A chill from the power of big government to muzzle and manipulate its citizens is sweeping through riot-torn streets where Nelson Mandela once stood tall in the quest for individual freedom.
And, according to a South African civil rights activist who has seen the ravages of globalism and far-left policies in his homeland, America must brace for a similar impact.
“To put it frankly, there’s a very strong anti-Western sentiment underneath this whole thing,” Ernst Roets told Tucker Carlson on Friday, according to Fox News.
Roets said that the heady mix of violence along racial lines that is taking place in South Africa and a concentration of power among so-called liberals is threatening both nations.
“That’s part of the reason why it’s so controversial to speak out against this, because there’s an anti-Western sentiment in America as well, which is sad and ironic and it is an anti-Western sentiment in Europe as well,” he said.
Roets’ country has been rocked by riots that followed the recent arrest of former South African President Jacob Zuma, according to the BBC.
Amid rampant looting, more than 200 people have been killed in the violent protests.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said the violence was part of a plan, and not spontaneous.
“It is quite clear that all these incidents of unrest and looting were instigated — there were people who planned it and co-ordinated it,” he said, calling the rioting an effort to wreck democracy.
“If we stand together, no insurrection or violence in this country will succeed,” he said. “We are engaged in a struggle to defend our democracy, our Constitution, our livelihoods and our safety. This is not a battle that we can afford to lose.”
Roets said that South Africa’s troubles run deeper than the day-to-day issues that plague its society.
“You can say [there’s] all this corruption in South Africa and crime and so forth. But when you start to say, well, maybe we should take one step back and ask a question, isn’t part of the problem maybe isn’t corruption and crime and all of these things, are there not maybe symptoms of a problem as opposed to the problems themselves?” he said, according to Fox News.
Roets said South Africa’s government proclaimed itself to be liberal while amassing more and more power to itself so that it can be the arbiter of what conduct is and is not allowed.
“And they talk about it openly. They say now we need to get to the first phase of the revolution is to take control of the state and the mechanisms of the state,” he said.
“The second phase is to have a more aggressive implementation of socialist policies,” he said.
As Roets depicted it, South Africa and America are both facing a battle between the right of a person to exist as an individual, and simply being a cog in the grander vision of globalist governments.
“For the South African project to prosper, these natural identities that people have, you know, should be suppressed,” he said.
“It’s like saying for on a bigger scale, it’s the same thing as saying for globalism to prosper, you know, nations have to die or you have to sort of you can be an American and you can believe in the American dream, but only in as far as it doesn’t stand in the way of this globalist project.”
The locusts are back, and they are hungry. Last year, an unprecedented plague of locusts devastated crops in eastern Africa, across the Middle East and throughout much of Asia. Many were hoping that it would just be a one year phenomenon, but now the locusts have returned and one British news source is using the world “biblical” to describe this second wave. At this moment, the Horn of Africa is being hit the hardest, and the UN is warning that this new infestation “threatens the livelihoods of more than 39 million people”…
According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the next generation of locusts threatens the livelihoods of more than 39 million people in Ethiopia, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, and Kenya. Over recent months, the pests have been combated on 1.3 million hectares of land in the Horn of Africa. However, in northern and central Kenya, more than 15 districts, including many new areas, have already been severely affected by the second wave of locusts. Around 1.9 million people were already living in a precarious nutrition situation, which could now dramatically worsen.
One reporter recently had the opportunity to fly with a pilot that is tracking locust swarms in Kenya, and he was stunned when they came across a “swarm about twice the size of the City of London ready to devour every bit of vegetation in its wake”.
“The locusts have eaten all the pasture that was there for our livestock,” the 62-year-old told DW. “We are suffering. Even food that we humans eat isn’t there, what can we do?”
Needless to say, this new wave of locusts is going to make the emerging global food crisis even worse.
In 2020, a combination of the COVID pandemic, the locust plague and other factors pushed global hunger to levels that we had not seen in decades. According to the UN World Food Program, nearly 700 million people were suffering from hunger late last year…
The numbers are staggering— as reflected in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic which has triggered a new round of food shortages, famine and starvation.
According to the Rome-based World Food Programme (WFP) 690 million people do not have enough to eat while 130 million additional people risk being pushed to the brink of starvation by the end of the year.
The head of the World Food Program says the Nobel Peace Prize has given the U.N. agency a spotlight and megaphone to warn world leaders that next year is going to be worse than this year, and without billions of dollars “we are going to have famines of biblical proportions in 2021.”
When David Beasley made that statement, he didn’t even know that another massive plague of locusts would be hitting Africa this year.
Unfortunately, this new locust plague could soon escalate dramatically. According to an expert in Kenya, his team is expecting that March and April could be even worse…
“We expect the worst if the young hatch in March and April,” said Kelvin Shingles, Kenya Country Director for German Agro Action (Deutsche Welthungerhilfe), an aid organization, in a press release.
For a long time, I have been warning that global food supplies were getting tighter.
Here in the western world, we can still go to the grocery store and fill up our carts with plenty of food, and so it can be difficult for us to have sympathy for those that are literally facing starvation on the other side of the planet.
But the truth is that it is happening, and the number of people that are suffering from hunger is going to continue to grow.
Even in the best of times we have struggled to feed everyone on the planet, and these are definitely not the best of times. Even the UN is warning that “famines of biblical proportions” are coming, and the suffering that we will witness will be off the charts.
Here in the United States, our food distribution systems have been rattled by the events of the past year, but there is still lots of food on the shelves.
Of course it is quite true that economic suffering is on the rise, and we have seen a number of instances where Americans have been forced to wait in lines that are miles long at local food banks around the nation.
And it is also undeniable that food prices have been rising aggressively, and this will become an even greater concern as time rolls along.
But for now, let us be thankful for what we still have, and let us also pray for those that are suffering on the other side of the globe because these locust invasions are truly, truly awful.
Under the continent of Antarctica, there is a “mantle plume producing almost as much heat as Yellowstone supervolcano”, and this has been melting ice plates from underneath at a staggering pace. If that superheated rock were to move even closer to the surface, that would potentially greatly accelerate the melting of Antarctic ice, and the consequences for the entire planet would be quite dramatic. As you will see below, if all Antarctic ice were to melt, the entire eastern seaboard of the United States would vanish. In other words, there would be no more New York, no more Washington D.C. and no more state of Florida.
That is why what is happening in Antarctica right now is deeply alarming many experts. According to the University of Chile, there have been over 30,000 earthquakes in Antarctica since the end of the month of August, and this is extremely unusual.
Scientists with the university’s National Seismological Center said the small quakes – including one stronger shake of magnitude 6 – were detected in the Bransfield Strait, a 60-mile wide (96-km) ocean channel between the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula.
Several tectonic plates and microplates meet near the strait, leading to frequent rumbling, but the past three months have been unusual, according to the center.
Obviously something big is taking place, and we do know that the rate at which the Shetland Islands have been separating from the Antarctic peninsula has been accelerating…
The shakes have become so frequent that the strait itself, once increasing in width at a rate of about 7 or 8 mm (0.30 inch) a year is now expanding 15 cm (6 inches) a year, the center said.
“It’s a 20-fold increase … which suggests that right this minute … the Shetland Islands are separating more quickly from the Antarctic peninsula,” said Sergio Barrientos, the center’s director.
The reason why what is happening in Antarctica is so important to the rest of us is because of the possibility that Antarctic ice could start melting at a much more rapid pace.
A mantle plume producing almost as much heat as Yellowstone supervolcano appears to be melting part of West Antarctica from beneath.
Researchers at NASA have discovered a huge upwelling of hot rock under Marie Byrd Land, which lies between the Ross Ice Shelf and the Ross Sea, is creating vast lakes and rivers under the ice sheet. The presence of a huge mantle plume could explain why the region is so unstable today, and why it collapsed so quickly at the end of the last Ice Age, 11,000 years ago.
Could all of the seismic activity that has been occurring in recent months be a sign that conditions under the continent are starting to become a lot more unstable?
If so, we could potentially be facing a scenario that most of us never dreamed was possible. According to one recent study, an acceleration of the melting process could actually destroy giant ice shelves “in minutes or hours”…
As meltwater rushes through the cracks in the Antarctic ice shelves, it can destroy the ice shelves in minutes or hours. This is amplified by the warming atmosphere, and as the warming continues, this phenomenon may happen more often than not. A study published back in August showed that at least half of the ice shelves are at risk of having this happening.
The study suggested that around 50% to 70% of the ice shelves holding Antarctic glaciers in place could become weak and even collapse with surges of meltwater. Ching-Yao Lai, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Marine Geology & Geophysics at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in New York and lead author of the study said, “What we find is that the amount of melting is important, but where the melting happens is also important.”
So what would happen if all of the ice in Antarctica suddenly melted?
Well, according to Geologist Ed Mathez of the American Museum of Natural History, oceans would rise approximately 70 meters all over the globe…
Thank you for your question. The simple answer is no. The whole world will never be underwater. But our coastlines would be very different.
If all the ice covering Antarctica , Greenland, and in mountain glaciers around the world were to melt, sea level would rise about 70 meters (230 feet). The ocean would cover all the coastal cities. And land area would shrink significantly. But many cities, such as Denver, would survive.
And according to National Geographic, every U.S. city that sits along the east coast of the United States “would vanish, along with Florida and the Gulf Coast”…
The entire Atlantic seaboard would vanish, along with Florida and the Gulf Coast. In California, San Francisco’s hills would become a cluster of islands and the Central Valley a giant bay. The Gulf of California would stretch north past the latitude of San Diego—not that there’d be a San Diego.
Needless to say, we have a great interest in making sure that all of that ice does not melt.
Unfortunately, today Antarctica is one of the fastest warming places on Earth due to all of the heat that is being generated from below.
We live at a time when earthquakes are happening in diverse places and unusual seismic activity is occurring all over the planet on a regular basis.
Most of us assume that these seismic events are nothing to be concerned about and that life will continue as it normally does for the foreseeable future.

The fact that 2020 has become a year of historic “shaking” was not a surprise to Jonathan Cahn, the Messianic Jewish rabbi and author of many New York Times bestsellers, including “The Harbinger” and a sequel published this month, “Harbinger II: The Return.”
But he said in an interview with WND he has long had “a real strong sense that it was going to be all the more strategic.” In “The Harbinger,” Cahn showed how the signs of judgment and warning in the last days of ancient Israel are strikingly similar to signs in America today, particularly surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
“The pattern and the template of the harbinger is that there is first a shaking, a warning, in the form of an attack – that was 9/11 – then there is a window of time for the nation to come back,” he said.
“Then the window comes to an end and there are shakings.” Remarkably, the shakings that the prophet Jeremiah foretold for Israel – the window of time for repentance – came 19 years after the judgment.
“So for years I was wondering, would this be the year the shakings would come?” Cahn told WND. “And it has been certainly that.” Further, he pointed out, one of the shakings Jeremiah prophesies in the 19th year is a plague.
If the coronavirus, violent racial unrest, hurricanes and wildfires aren’t enough, there likely will be more, he said in the interview, which took place just before the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday.”I don’t believe the shakings are over. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of it. I believe there will be greater shakings,” Cahn said.
Window of time
When Cahn announced in a video message in March the plan for “The Return,” he said he believed America has been given the “window of time” for the purpose of “return and revival.”
“Without that return, America will be lost,” he said at the time. “In the days following 9/11, people flocked to houses of worship, and it looked as if there could have been a spiritual revival and awakening. But it never came because there was no repentance. And without repentance, without a turning back, there can be no revival.” But Cahn has seen in his lifetime “the hand of God change the course of American and world history.”
The return begins, he emphasized, “not in the halls of government but with the people of God who gathered in a sacred assembly in our nation’s capital with Scripture: ‘If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their sinful ways, I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land.'”
“The Return” events this weekend will take place during the 10 days that are known from ancient times as the Days of Awe, beginning last Friday with the Jewish Feast of Trumpets and ending with the Day of Atonement on Sept. 28. “The Return” also corresponds with the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower. Many who can’t make it to Washington for the assembly on the National Mall will gather across the nation in houses of worship and in homes to participate via a livestream.
Among the speakers are Ben Carson, James Dobson, Pat Robertson, Ann Graham Lotz, Alveda King, Pat Boone, retired Lt. Gen. William Boykin and former Rep. Michele Bachmann. Cahn will give a “prophetic word” at 11 a.m. Eastern on Saturday that he said will be “a call for America to return, a revealing of where America is, the biblical templets we’re replaying and where it leads.” “We’re at a very dangerous point,” he told WND. “The voice of God calling to us.”
The main event on the Mall, between the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol, is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday. An evening celebration will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Friday night is a youth gathering from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Along with the livestream on the web, “The Return” will be broadcast on many television networks, including CBN, TBN, PTL, TCT, God TV and Daystar. And there will be simulcast partners around the world broadcasting in nearly 90 languages, according to the co-chairman of the event, Kevin Jessip. “This will be the largest ever global gathering in the history of Christendom utilizing today’s technologies,” said Jessip, founder of the Global Strategic Alliance.
Cahn leads the Jerusalem Center/Beth Israel congregation just outside New York City, in Wayne, New Jersey. He has spoken at the United Nations, before leaders of Congress and at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast in 2013 and 2017.
Yet another remarkable providence in the timing of the event Saturday, Cahn said, is the convergence with a dream recounted recently by Dana Coverstone, the Kentucky pastor whose video in June telling of dreams he said foretold of the coronavirus and racial unrest went viral.
Coverstone said he saw, in a more recent dream this summer, a calendar in which September was highlighted as a month in which there would be a growing movement of prayer for the nation and for revival amid increasing resistance. The pastor saw a finger emphasize the last week of September, when there would be a “solemn assembly.”
“That’s exactly what the return is, a solemn assembly,” Cahn said. Cahn told WND that he had spoken recently with Coverstone, and the Kentucky pastor didn’t know about The Return event when he had the dream. People told him about it later. Cahn also later discovered that The Return “happens” to fall on a specially appointed day in the Hebrew calendar called Shabbat Shuvah. He didn’t know that when the event was scheduled.
Shuvah means “return,” and the day is specifically appointed as the return of a nation to God. Scriptures for that day include a passage from Joel 2, which says, “Sound the shofar, proclaim a solemn assembly and plead with him for the nation and the Lord will hear our prayer.”
“All over the world on that Saturday, the scrolls will be opened in synagogues and there will be a reading from Joel about the solemn assembly,” Cahn said. That day on the Hebrew calendar is set apart as a time of prayer and getting right before the Lord, he noted.
Cahn pointed to another crucial time in America, during the Civil War, when Abraham Lincoln declared a solemn assembly “and it changed the course of history.” “We are at a more dangerous point than ever. We have an election that can change the course of the nation at such a time when so many signs are pointing to danger of judgment,” he told WND.
“I believe that if we do not rise to this now, here, embodied by the return, we may pass the point of no return. That’s why I’m calling on any believer who has any kind of burden for America to join, whether they come to Washington or wherever they are. “But we need to do this as never before.”
It was 25 years ago when the average people of a small city in Montana “joined together to stand up to hate when their neighbors were under attack,” as the Not in Our Town website reminds us.
The town was Billings. The neighbors were Jewish, Black and Native American. The attackers were white supremacists. The average people standing up to hate were, for the most part, white people who, like most people of all colors, were offended by racism and anti-Semitism.
That was then. This is now. The city is Kenosha … or Portland … or Seattle. The neighbors under attack are police officers or business people or any white people. The attackers are Black Lives Matter activists or antifa. The average people standing up to hate are — for the most part — missing in action.
What the hell happened to America in the last 25 years?
You will find one clue in this description of what happened in Billings:
“Townspeople of all races and religions found common ground against hate based attacks against their African American, Native American and Jewish families and congregations. Religious and community leaders, labor union volunteers, law enforcement, the local newspaper and concerned residents united in action and spoke loudly against hate and intolerance, proclaiming in no uncertain terms ‘Not In Our Town!’”
In Billings, in 1995, residents found “common ground.” They joined together to stop hate. There was no talk about Republicans and Democrats. There was no talk about how all white people were the cause of evil just because some white people had done evil things. And there was a joining together of people from across many diverse backgrounds. “Religious and community leaders, labor union volunteers, law enforcement, the local newspaper and concerned residents united in action.”
That doesn’t happen anymore. American law enforcement is now caricatured as the Gestapo or as brainless, heartless automatons marching in lockstep to the commands of “systemic racism.” Different communities and different religions are taught not to look for common ground, but to instead wall themselves off from each other in celebration of their own grievances. Yes, celebration. Identity politics has turned Americans into us and them, and we are taught to celebrate “us” and fear “them.”
How the hell can Americans sit back and watch as gangs of dangerous extremists maraud through our cities — burning buildings, throwing rocks, bottles and explosives at police, and attacking the elderly? Why make excuses for the bullies or justify their violence? Looting is wrong. Vandalism is wrong. Lawlessness is wrong. Yet too many people will not say so. Has the country completely lost its moral center in the last 25 years?
If one is being honest, the answer must be yes. Whether it is because of the increasingly self-oriented perspective engendered by social media or because of some intangible such as the deadening of the moral nerve caused by the widespread acceptance of murder by abortion, we may never know. But there is no doubt that a culture that condones violence and lawlessness has lost its way.
Civil rights activist Bob Woodson, whose life’s work has been revitalizing low-income neighborhoods, says that the revolution in our city streets will only make life worse for Blacks and other minorities, and that the rest of America has inexplicably turned its back on its most vulnerable.
“We’re reaching really a level of depravity — when rioters in Portland are locking people in buildings and trying to burn it down and also people are cheering when a Trump supporter is shot to death — I’ve never seen that level of depravity before in this country,” Woodson said last week.
Of course, that level of depravity has been seen before elsewhere — during the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the rise of Nazism in Germany. Americans today run the risk of becoming the “good Germans” of 90 years ago who looked the other way when extremists used brute force to acquire power, when human life became less important than one’s own personal safety, and when civilization gave way to barbarity.
So my question is simple: When will Americans get up from their easy chairs and stand with the people who are victims of left-wing mobs — bullied, intimidated, harassed, even murdered?
Not in our town? How about this one: Not in our country!
The skies appeared orange not only in San Francisco but as far north in the state as Eureka. Skies were also reddened across the area near the city of Chico, where the Camp fire tore through in 2018, decimating the town of Paradise. Part of Paradise was under an evacuation warning Wednesday as the fast-moving Bear fire burned through foothill communities and near the city of Oroville.
People in the San Francisco Bay Area and across California awoke on Wednesday morning to an eerie scene of darkened, orange-hued skies and ash raining down as historic wildfires rage across the state.
By now it is obvious to anyone paying attention in 2020 that a major paradigm shift has occurred, and our world as we know it has inexorably changed. Everywhere you look, everything is now different, from the physical realm we can see to the spiritual realm we cannot see, a major change has happened. Not only have things changed, things are rapidly accelerating.
“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.” 1 John 2:18 (KJB)
As bible believers who stand on the The Book, and believe what we read there, we know of a certainty what is taking place right now. The God of Heaven is preparing to insert Himself once again into His creation, as events long foretold stand of the precipice of taking place. These are the days of prophecy, and as Habakkuk said, most will not believe even though they have already been told from within the pages of your King James Bible. God is working, God is alive, and God is getting ready to rock this world. Prepare yourselves.
“Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.” Habakkuk 1:5 (KJB)
‘Good morning, hell’: Californians awake to eerie orange apocalyptic skies as wildfires rage
FROM THE GUARDIAN UK: The apocalyptic skies are due to light being filtered through smoke from California’s worst fire season on record, according to a regional air pollution control organization the Bay Area Air District.
“These smoke particles scatter blue light and only allow yellow-orange-red light to reach the surface, causing skies to look orange,” the Bay Area Air District said on Twitter.
Residents of the Bay Area reported oversleeping because the sky was so dark. Local police forces recommended drivers keep headlights on all day and bridges and street lights remained alight as the sun failed to appear this morning.
Surreal images of blood orange skyline flooded social media on Wednesday.
The science behind the hue has to do with the way smoke affects what kind of light can get through. The sky is usually blue because white light from the sun, which is a composite of all visible colors of light, is filtered through gases and particles in the Earth’s atmosphere. Blue light is scattered more strongly than other frequencies, making the sky appear blue.
But when smoke particles and other pollution enter the atmosphere, much of the blue light is absorbed before it can reach our eyes, allowing only yellow, red and orange light to reach the surface. Smoky air also means much of the sun’s light is blocked or absorbed before reaching the surfacing, making it unusually dark during the daytime. The National Weather Service said conditions could worsen throughout the day.
It has just been one thing after another in 2020. First, the COVID-19 pandemic erupted and quickly spread all over the globe. At this point more than 800,000 people have died globally, and authorities are warning us to brace ourselves for another wave of the pandemic in the fall. Of course many would argue that fear of the virus has been even worse than the disease itself, and it is undeniable that the COVID-19 shutdowns were the primary reason why we have plunged into the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930s. More than 57 million Americans have filed new claims for unemployment benefits so far this year, and that number just keeps rising with each passing week. On top of all that, the tragic death of George Floyd caused an unprecedented wave of civil unrest to erupt in major cities all across America, and many are anticipating a fresh outburst of unrest as we head toward election day in November. So coming into this month we had already faced far more trouble than we do in a typical year, and now a very strange series of natural disasters is making things even worse.
For example, earlier this month an absolutely massive storm known as a “derecho” with winds of up to 112 mph came roaring through the Midwest. Millions upon millions of acres of crops were destroyed, and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has described this storm as a “40-mile-wide tornado that went through the state of Iowa”…
The damage was so bad that the New York Times reported that Iowa state officials estimate that at least 14 million acres of necessary farmland were damaged by the storm. Not only were crops destroyed but hundreds of millions of bushels of commercial storage grain, as well as tens of millions of bushels of on-farm storage grain, were also lost.
Shannon Textor, who is a spokesperson for the Iowa Corn Growers Association, reported that it may be weeks to determine the monetary loss as a result of the storm. “It’s really hard to get your arms around the devastation at this point,” Textor admitted.
President Donald Trump took notice of the destruction and on Tuesday discussed the damage and promised Iowans the “full support of the federal government in recovery. According to Iowa Governor. Kim Reynolds, the devastation caused an estimated $4 billion in damages from the storm. During a briefing with the president, Reynolds described the storm as a “40-mile-wide tornado that went through the state of Iowa.”
Shortly after that historic storm ripped a giant scar across the Midwest, the western half of the nation was gripped by a historic heatwave.
The highest temperature ever captured by modern instruments was recorded in Death Valley, California, many other all-time records were shattered all over the Southwest, and the city of Phoenix actually broke their record for most days in a year in which the high temperature reached at least 115 degrees. Of course that heatwave set the stage for the nightmarish wildfires that we are witnessing in the state of California right now.
Yes, we see wildfires in California every year, but we have never seen anything quite like this. Just consider the following facts…
-12,000 lightning strikes have hit the state over the past week, and many more are expected this week.
-More than a million acres have been destroyed by fire so far.
-Two of the five largest fires in the history of the state are burning in northern California right now.
-Wildfires in California have already caused more death and destruction in 2020 than they did in all of 2019.
-A “red flag” warning has been issued for Monday. Authorities are anticipating that winds of up to 65 mph and widespread lightning strikes will make this crisis even worse.
Hurricane Marco is likely to make landfall first, and residents of the Gulf Coast will begin to feel Marco’s fury as early as Monday morning…
At 5 p.m. CDT on Sunday, Marco strengthened to a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph and was moving to the north-northwest at 13 mph.
Forecasters warn that time is running out for residents along the central Gulf Coast to make preparations, as impacts will start to be felt early Monday morning. Marco is expected to continue intensifying through Sunday.
Following closely on the heels of Hurricane Marco is Tropical Storm Laura.
Tropical Storm Laura is forecast to reach the Gulf of Mexico early this week, where significant intensification into a hurricane is expected. The area with the highest chance of seeing a hurricane strike from Laura by midweek is along parts of the northern and western Gulf Coast, but this forecast is still uncertain.
At this point, many are anticipating that Laura will end up being the stronger of the two storms, but we shall have to wait and see how everything plays out.
Meanwhile, much of the other side of the globe continues to wrestle with a historic plague of locusts. Some of these swarms of locusts are the size of major cities, and it would be difficult to overstate the crop devastation that we have been witnessing in many countries.
When combined with the tremendous impact that COVID-19 has been having on global food distribution systems, these two factors have created a tremendous worldwide crisis. In fact, the head of the UN World Food Program has once again used the word “biblical” to describe the famine that the planet is potentially facing…
The Covid-19 pandemic may lead to a calamity of epic scale, with millions facing starvation worldwide, the head of the UN’s hunger-fighting body has warned.
“All the data we have, including WFP forecast that the number of people experiencing malnutrition will grow by 80 percent by the end of the year, … points to a real disaster,” David Beasley, Executive Director of the UN World Food Program (WFP), said.
“We are risking a famine of biblical proportions.”
2020 has truly been a year like no other, and it is imperative for everyone to understand that the “perfect storm” that we are now facing is just getting started. All of a sudden, the U.S. is being hit by one major crisis after another, and to many people it seems quite unlikely that so many nightmarish events would happen so closely together by random chance.
So what do you think?
Could it be possible that someone is trying to get our attention?
It would be a major understatement to say that 2020 has been a “crazy” year so far, and I have a feeling that quite a few more surprises are in store for us before this year is over.
East Africa saw herself afflicted by locust swarms of Biblical proportions. Now the same swarms are back, but even bigger than before, with locusts numbering in the billions as is reported by the Associated Press.
Weeks before the coronavirus spread through much of the world, parts of Africa were already threatened by another kind of plague, the biggest locust outbreak some countries had seen in 70 years.
Now the second wave of the voracious insects, some 20 times the size of the first, is arriving. Billions of the young desert locusts are winging in from breeding grounds in Somalia in search of fresh vegetation springing up with seasonal rains.
Millions of already vulnerable people are at risk. And as they gather to try to combat the locusts, often in vain, they risk spreading the virus — a topic that comes a distant second for many in rural areas.
It is the locusts that “everyone is talking about,” said Yoweri Aboket, a farmer in Uganda. “Once they land in your garden they do total destruction. Some people will even tell you that the locusts are more destructive than the coronavirus. There are even some who don’t believe that the virus will reach here.” (source)
Locusts eat crops.
No crops means no food.
No food means starvation.
Starvation means social anxiety and more chaos.
Starvation and chaos are a classic formula for displacing populations.
Now add in the situation with COVID-19, and the nightmare is worse than ever before.
Prepare for another wave of migration to Europe as hungry people seek to flee from their countries.
Likewise, expect to see more rhetoric from European nationalist groups about ‘hordes of African invaders’.
It will be interesting to see what the international response will be, and especially from the European nations as this situation worsens.
The waves of earthquakes are rocking the center of the U.S. and the sudden awakening of several volcanoes around the world may be a sign of the pre-Messiah shake-up predicted by the prophets. At the same time, several far more mild earthquakes in Israel seem to embody the Biblical concept of God’s mercy being aroused by Man’s actions.
WAVE OF EARTHQUAKES IN CENTRAL U.S.
The earth seems to be waking up as seismic activity is being reported around the globe. Last month, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake shook Idaho, generating a multitude of avalanches. The quake was the largest in the region since a 6.9 quake hit in 1983. There have been 238 earthquakes in Idaho in the last week according to the U.S. Geological Survey website. Five of those have been substantial in size rating 4.0 to 6.5. Idaho isn’t new to experiencing earthquakes.
Two weeks before Idaho felt the earth move, Salt Lake City, Utah, approximately 340 miles away from the Idaho epicenter, was hit by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake. Since that earthquake, there have been 886 smaller earthquakes and aftershocks in the Salt Lake area.
The belly of the country is clearly rumbling as the University of Utah Seismograph Station mapped a total of 980 tremors throughout Idaho, Utah and Wyoming since March 18.
YELLOWSTONE GETS GREENLIGHT DESPITE “PULSATIONS”, OVER 100 EARTHQUAKES
Although the probability of an eruption at Yellowstone may (or may not) be small, the results of such an event would be catastrophic in the extreme. Yellowstone Park is seismically active with more than 10,000 thermal features of which more than 500 are geysers. The Yellowstone caldera is listed as the most dangerous supervolcano in existence and as such, is the most monitored volcano in the world. It has erupted three times over the last 2 million years, most recently about 70,000 years ago. Yellowstone has produced three cataclysmic eruptions that scientists know of: at 2.08, 1.3, and 0.631 million years ago.
An article in Discoverexplained the epidemic of earthquakes as being caused by the continent “stretching,” a process described in German as “horst and graben.”
“As North America continues to stretch across the Basin and Range, these faults can generate earthquakes as the valleys continue to drop,” the article explained. “Both of the earthquakes that happened in Nevada and Utah recently were on one of the normal faults that bounded a valley.
VOLCANOES AROUND THE WORLD
But it is not just the central U.S. that is experiencing a seismic awakening. Since January 21, the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland has experienced more than 8,000 earthquakes and about 10 centimeters of land uplift due to magma intrusions underground. Geologists believe the volcanic systems in the region become active about once every thousand years. The last time this region experienced volcanic activity was 800 years ago. Beginning in the tenth century, the volcanically volatile period lasted for 300 years.
The region is about 30 miles southwest of Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital, but is only nine miles away from Iceland’s international airport. A major eruption could shut down travel for all of Iceland as well as endanger the nearby town of Grindavik as well as the Blue Lagoon, a popular tourist destination. There is also a nearby geothermal powerplant which could be endangered by volcanic activity.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Krakatoa volcano in Indonesia exploded on Friday. Though two relatively small eruptions were recorded, the volcano is a hotspot and cause for concern. In 188, a Krakatoa eruption had one of the highest death tolls of any volcanic eruption, killing more than 36,000 people. The most recent eruption at the site was in 2018, generating a tsunami and killing 437 people.
And I will bring the third part through the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; they shall call on My name and I will answer them; I will say: ‘It is My people’ and they shall say: ‘Hashem is my God.’ Zechariah 13:9
END OF DAYS SHAKE AND BAKE, BUT ISRAEL IS DIFFERENT
But Hashem God is the true God, He is the living God, and the everlasting King; at His wrath the earth trembleth, and the nations are not able to abide His indignation. Jeremiah 10:10
The prophet describes this catastrophic period as a process to purify the inhabitants of the earth for the Messianic period to follow.
“And I will bring the third part through the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; they shall call on My name and I will answer them; I will say: ‘It is My people’ and they shall say: ‘Hashem is my God.’” Zechariah 13:9
While volcanoes and earthquakes rock the world, it should be remembered that catastrophic end-of-days earthquakes are described by the Biblical prophets in two distinct contexts: inside Israel and outside of Israel. While most of these earthquakes shook seismically active regions it should be noted that Israel, sitting on the Syrian-African rift, has also experienced several tremors in the past year. These quakes have been far more gentle. The holy land has experienced over 30 tremors since the beginning of the year but only one, a mild 3.8 shaker off the coast of Haifa last month, was felt by Israelis.
This is significant as the pre-Messiah war of Gog and Magog is prophesied to be accompanied by earth-changing earthquakes.
On that day, when Gog sets foot on the soil of Yisrael—declares Hashem—My raging anger shall flare up. For I have decreed in My indignation and in My blazing wrath: On that day, a terrible earthquake shall befall the land of Yisrael. The fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that move on the ground, and every human being on earth shall quake before Me. Mountains shall be overthrown, cliffs shall topple, and every wall shall crumble to the ground. Ezekiel 38:18-20
These pre-Messiah quakes are predicted to bring about topographic changes to Israel. Even though Jerusalem is over 3,600 feet higher than the Dead Sea, the mountaintop capital is actually quite close to the sea, making it likely that a major earthquake in the geologically active Jordan Rift would be the source of the earthquake that is prophesied to drastically change the topography of Jerusalem in the end-of-days.
On that day, He will set His feet on the Mount of Olives, near Yerushalayim on the east; and the Mount of Olives shall split across from east to west, and one part of the Mount shall shift to the north and the other to the south, a huge gorge. Zechariah 14:4
Though these pre-Messiah earthquakes in Israel sound as cataclysmic as those outside of the Holy Land, Jewish tradition teaches that the catastrophes inside of Israel can be mitigated based on the merits the Jews acquire through the performance of Biblical commandments. The concept is referred to as B’Eeta Achishena referred to by the prophet Isaiah.
The smallest shall become a clan; The least, a mighty nation. I Hashem will speed it in due time. Isaiah 60:22
The term is used by rabbis and Jewish theologians to describe the tension between God’s greater plan in light of Man’s will and actions. This is especially relevant in reference to the Messiah and Man’s actions affecting when the Messiah will arrive.
Jesus specifically warned us that there would be “pestilences” in the end
times, and so if we really are approaching the time of His return this is one
of the things that we should be watching for. Of course we don’t know if
COVID-19 is one of the “pestilences” that Jesus was referring to, but in recent
days it has greatly distressed me to see so many Christians attempting to
downplay the severity of this virus. The number of confirmed cases and
the global death toll have both been rising at an exponential rate day after
day, and experts are warning that over half of
the population of the world could eventually get this virus, but so many
voices out there are boldly assuring people that they don’t have anything to be
concerned about even though they don’t have any medical credentials at
all. Personally, I think that it pays to listen to the experts during a
crisis like this, and the experts are telling us that millions could soon die. In
fact, as you will see below, a doctor that sat on the White House Homeland
Security Council is saying that this is the most “frightening disease” that he
has ever encountered. After everything that we have already learned about
this virus, anyone that is not taking this pandemic seriously is not being
But is this just another pandemic that will come and go, or is this one of
the “pestilences” that we were warned about almost 2000 years ago?
In Luke chapter 21, Jesus explained to His disciples what conditions would
be like just prior to His return, and in verse 11 He specifically warned that
there would be “pestilences”. The following comes from the King James
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and
famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs
shall there be from heaven.
We have definitely seen a rise in seismic activity in recent years, billions of locusts are
devouring crops from eastern Africa all the way to China right now, and
Australia just had the worst harvest season that they have ever recorded.
So it is interesting to note that the stage is being set for some of the
other signs that Jesus mentioned at the very same time that this coronavirus
outbreak is starting to spiral out of control.
Only time will tell if COVID-19 is truly one of the “pestilences” that Jesus
was referring to, but at this point it has become exceedingly clear that we
should all be taking it very seriously.
This virus jumps from person to person with incredible ease, and it has a
death rate that is about 34 times higher than the ordinary
flu. In fact, the death rate for COVID-19 is actually higher than the death rate
during the Spanish Flu pandemic. And let us never forget that the
Spanish Flu pandemic killed between 50 million and 100 million people from 1918
I do not understand why anyone would possibly want to try to downplay this
outbreak, and those that are doing so could end up greatly contributing to the
spread of this virus.
Proverbs 22:3 says this…
3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but
the simple pass on, and are punished.
Fortunately for us, this outbreak started on the other side of the globe and
so we had some time to prepare before it got here.
An infectious diseases expert at the forefront of the search for a
coronavirus vaccine said on Friday that it was the most “frightening
disease“ he’s ever encountered, and that “war is an
appropriate analogy” for what the country is facing, as “50
– 70 percent of the global population” may become infected.
Dr. Richard Hatchett, who sat on the White House Homeland Security Council
in 2005 – 2006 and was a principal author of the National Strategy for
Pandemic Influenza Implementation Plan, and currently heads the Coalition for
Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, told the UK’s Channel
“This is the most frightening disease I’ve ever encountered in my
career, and that includes Ebola, it includes MERS, it includes SARS.
And it’s frightening because of the combination of infectiousness and a
lethality that appears to be manyfold higher than flu.”
That sure sounds like a “global pestilence” to me.
Let us pray that he is completely wrong.
But as we pray, it will also be important for us to take recommended
precautions. During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press”, Dr. Anthony Fauci
warned that the elderly and those with “underlying conditions” will need
to make adjustments to their lifestyles immediately…
“If you are an elderly person with an underlying condition, if you get
infected, the risk of getting into trouble is considerable. So it’s our
responsibility to protect the vulnerable,” he said.
“When I say ‘protect,’ I mean right now. Not wait until things get
worse. Say no large crowds, no long trips. And above all, don’t get on a cruise
Personally, I think that is great advice for all of us.
If you have family members or friends that are not taking this outbreak
seriously, you need to try to get through to them.
US hospitals are preparing for 96 million coronavirus infections and nearly half a million
deaths from the outbreak, leaked documents have revealed.
The spread of the deadly disease could be far worse than officials
claim, with 480,000 Americans expected to die from the virus and 4.8
million hospitalized, according to a presentation hosted by The
American Hospital Association (AHA) in February.
