East Africa saw herself afflicted by locust swarms of Biblical proportions. Now the same swarms are back, but even bigger than before, with locusts numbering in the billions as is reported by the Associated Press.
Weeks before the coronavirus spread through much of the world, parts of Africa were already threatened by another kind of plague, the biggest locust outbreak some countries had seen in 70 years.
Now the second wave of the voracious insects, some 20 times the size of the first, is arriving. Billions of the young desert locusts are winging in from breeding grounds in Somalia in search of fresh vegetation springing up with seasonal rains.
Millions of already vulnerable people are at risk. And as they gather to try to combat the locusts, often in vain, they risk spreading the virus — a topic that comes a distant second for many in rural areas.
It is the locusts that “everyone is talking about,” said Yoweri Aboket, a farmer in Uganda. “Once they land in your garden they do total destruction. Some people will even tell you that the locusts are more destructive than the coronavirus. There are even some who don’t believe that the virus will reach here.” (source)
Locusts eat crops.
No crops means no food.
No food means starvation.
Starvation means social anxiety and more chaos.
Starvation and chaos are a classic formula for displacing populations.
Now add in the situation with COVID-19, and the nightmare is worse than ever before.
Prepare for another wave of migration to Europe as hungry people seek to flee from their countries.
Likewise, expect to see more rhetoric from European nationalist groups about ‘hordes of African invaders’.
It will be interesting to see what the international response will be, and especially from the European nations as this situation worsens.
The waves of earthquakes are rocking the center of the U.S. and the sudden awakening of several volcanoes around the world may be a sign of the pre-Messiah shake-up predicted by the prophets. At the same time, several far more mild earthquakes in Israel seem to embody the Biblical concept of God’s mercy being aroused by Man’s actions.
WAVE OF EARTHQUAKES IN CENTRAL U.S.
The earth seems to be waking up as seismic activity is being reported around the globe. Last month, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake shook Idaho, generating a multitude of avalanches. The quake was the largest in the region since a 6.9 quake hit in 1983. There have been 238 earthquakes in Idaho in the last week according to the U.S. Geological Survey website. Five of those have been substantial in size rating 4.0 to 6.5. Idaho isn’t new to experiencing earthquakes.
Two weeks before Idaho felt the earth move, Salt Lake City, Utah, approximately 340 miles away from the Idaho epicenter, was hit by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake. Since that earthquake, there have been 886 smaller earthquakes and aftershocks in the Salt Lake area.
The belly of the country is clearly rumbling as the University of Utah Seismograph Station mapped a total of 980 tremors throughout Idaho, Utah and Wyoming since March 18.
YELLOWSTONE GETS GREENLIGHT DESPITE “PULSATIONS”, OVER 100 EARTHQUAKES
Although the probability of an eruption at Yellowstone may (or may not) be small, the results of such an event would be catastrophic in the extreme. Yellowstone Park is seismically active with more than 10,000 thermal features of which more than 500 are geysers. The Yellowstone caldera is listed as the most dangerous supervolcano in existence and as such, is the most monitored volcano in the world. It has erupted three times over the last 2 million years, most recently about 70,000 years ago. Yellowstone has produced three cataclysmic eruptions that scientists know of: at 2.08, 1.3, and 0.631 million years ago.
An article in Discoverexplained the epidemic of earthquakes as being caused by the continent “stretching,” a process described in German as “horst and graben.”
“As North America continues to stretch across the Basin and Range, these faults can generate earthquakes as the valleys continue to drop,” the article explained. “Both of the earthquakes that happened in Nevada and Utah recently were on one of the normal faults that bounded a valley.
VOLCANOES AROUND THE WORLD
But it is not just the central U.S. that is experiencing a seismic awakening. Since January 21, the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland has experienced more than 8,000 earthquakes and about 10 centimeters of land uplift due to magma intrusions underground. Geologists believe the volcanic systems in the region become active about once every thousand years. The last time this region experienced volcanic activity was 800 years ago. Beginning in the tenth century, the volcanically volatile period lasted for 300 years.
The region is about 30 miles southwest of Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital, but is only nine miles away from Iceland’s international airport. A major eruption could shut down travel for all of Iceland as well as endanger the nearby town of Grindavik as well as the Blue Lagoon, a popular tourist destination. There is also a nearby geothermal powerplant which could be endangered by volcanic activity.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Krakatoa volcano in Indonesia exploded on Friday. Though two relatively small eruptions were recorded, the volcano is a hotspot and cause for concern. In 188, a Krakatoa eruption had one of the highest death tolls of any volcanic eruption, killing more than 36,000 people. The most recent eruption at the site was in 2018, generating a tsunami and killing 437 people.
And I will bring the third part through the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; they shall call on My name and I will answer them; I will say: ‘It is My people’ and they shall say: ‘Hashem is my God.’ Zechariah 13:9
END OF DAYS SHAKE AND BAKE, BUT ISRAEL IS DIFFERENT
But Hashem God is the true God, He is the living God, and the everlasting King; at His wrath the earth trembleth, and the nations are not able to abide His indignation. Jeremiah 10:10
The prophet describes this catastrophic period as a process to purify the inhabitants of the earth for the Messianic period to follow.
“And I will bring the third part through the fire and will refine them as silver is refined and will try them as gold is tried; they shall call on My name and I will answer them; I will say: ‘It is My people’ and they shall say: ‘Hashem is my God.’” Zechariah 13:9
While volcanoes and earthquakes rock the world, it should be remembered that catastrophic end-of-days earthquakes are described by the Biblical prophets in two distinct contexts: inside Israel and outside of Israel. While most of these earthquakes shook seismically active regions it should be noted that Israel, sitting on the Syrian-African rift, has also experienced several tremors in the past year. These quakes have been far more gentle. The holy land has experienced over 30 tremors since the beginning of the year but only one, a mild 3.8 shaker off the coast of Haifa last month, was felt by Israelis.
This is significant as the pre-Messiah war of Gog and Magog is prophesied to be accompanied by earth-changing earthquakes.
On that day, when Gog sets foot on the soil of Yisrael—declares Hashem—My raging anger shall flare up. For I have decreed in My indignation and in My blazing wrath: On that day, a terrible earthquake shall befall the land of Yisrael. The fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that move on the ground, and every human being on earth shall quake before Me. Mountains shall be overthrown, cliffs shall topple, and every wall shall crumble to the ground. Ezekiel 38:18-20
These pre-Messiah quakes are predicted to bring about topographic changes to Israel. Even though Jerusalem is over 3,600 feet higher than the Dead Sea, the mountaintop capital is actually quite close to the sea, making it likely that a major earthquake in the geologically active Jordan Rift would be the source of the earthquake that is prophesied to drastically change the topography of Jerusalem in the end-of-days.
On that day, He will set His feet on the Mount of Olives, near Yerushalayim on the east; and the Mount of Olives shall split across from east to west, and one part of the Mount shall shift to the north and the other to the south, a huge gorge. Zechariah 14:4
Though these pre-Messiah earthquakes in Israel sound as cataclysmic as those outside of the Holy Land, Jewish tradition teaches that the catastrophes inside of Israel can be mitigated based on the merits the Jews acquire through the performance of Biblical commandments. The concept is referred to as B’Eeta Achishena referred to by the prophet Isaiah.
The smallest shall become a clan; The least, a mighty nation. I Hashem will speed it in due time. Isaiah 60:22
The term is used by rabbis and Jewish theologians to describe the tension between God’s greater plan in light of Man’s will and actions. This is especially relevant in reference to the Messiah and Man’s actions affecting when the Messiah will arrive.
Jesus specifically warned us that there would be “pestilences” in the end
times, and so if we really are approaching the time of His return this is one
of the things that we should be watching for. Of course we don’t know if
COVID-19 is one of the “pestilences” that Jesus was referring to, but in recent
days it has greatly distressed me to see so many Christians attempting to
downplay the severity of this virus. The number of confirmed cases and
the global death toll have both been rising at an exponential rate day after
day, and experts are warning that over half of
the population of the world could eventually get this virus, but so many
voices out there are boldly assuring people that they don’t have anything to be
concerned about even though they don’t have any medical credentials at
all. Personally, I think that it pays to listen to the experts during a
crisis like this, and the experts are telling us that millions could soon die. In
fact, as you will see below, a doctor that sat on the White House Homeland
Security Council is saying that this is the most “frightening disease” that he
has ever encountered. After everything that we have already learned about
this virus, anyone that is not taking this pandemic seriously is not being
But is this just another pandemic that will come and go, or is this one of
the “pestilences” that we were warned about almost 2000 years ago?
In Luke chapter 21, Jesus explained to His disciples what conditions would
be like just prior to His return, and in verse 11 He specifically warned that
there would be “pestilences”. The following comes from the King James
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and
famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs
shall there be from heaven.
We have definitely seen a rise in seismic activity in recent years, billions of locusts are
devouring crops from eastern Africa all the way to China right now, and
Australia just had the worst harvest season that they have ever recorded.
So it is interesting to note that the stage is being set for some of the
other signs that Jesus mentioned at the very same time that this coronavirus
outbreak is starting to spiral out of control.
Only time will tell if COVID-19 is truly one of the “pestilences” that Jesus
was referring to, but at this point it has become exceedingly clear that we
should all be taking it very seriously.
This virus jumps from person to person with incredible ease, and it has a
death rate that is about 34 times higher than the ordinary
flu. In fact, the death rate for COVID-19 is actually higher than the death rate
during the Spanish Flu pandemic. And let us never forget that the
Spanish Flu pandemic killed between 50 million and 100 million people from 1918
I do not understand why anyone would possibly want to try to downplay this
outbreak, and those that are doing so could end up greatly contributing to the
spread of this virus.
Proverbs 22:3 says this…
3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but
the simple pass on, and are punished.
Fortunately for us, this outbreak started on the other side of the globe and
so we had some time to prepare before it got here.
An infectious diseases expert at the forefront of the search for a
coronavirus vaccine said on Friday that it was the most “frightening
disease“ he’s ever encountered, and that “war is an
appropriate analogy” for what the country is facing, as “50
– 70 percent of the global population” may become infected.
Dr. Richard Hatchett, who sat on the White House Homeland Security Council
in 2005 – 2006 and was a principal author of the National Strategy for
Pandemic Influenza Implementation Plan, and currently heads the Coalition for
Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, told the UK’s Channel
“This is the most frightening disease I’ve ever encountered in my
career, and that includes Ebola, it includes MERS, it includes SARS.
And it’s frightening because of the combination of infectiousness and a
lethality that appears to be manyfold higher than flu.”
That sure sounds like a “global pestilence” to me.
Let us pray that he is completely wrong.
But as we pray, it will also be important for us to take recommended
precautions. During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press”, Dr. Anthony Fauci
warned that the elderly and those with “underlying conditions” will need
to make adjustments to their lifestyles immediately…
“If you are an elderly person with an underlying condition, if you get
infected, the risk of getting into trouble is considerable. So it’s our
responsibility to protect the vulnerable,” he said.
“When I say ‘protect,’ I mean right now. Not wait until things get
worse. Say no large crowds, no long trips. And above all, don’t get on a cruise
Personally, I think that is great advice for all of us.
If you have family members or friends that are not taking this outbreak
seriously, you need to try to get through to them.
US hospitals are preparing for 96 million coronavirus infections and nearly half a million
deaths from the outbreak, leaked documents have revealed.
The spread of the deadly disease could be far worse than officials
claim, with 480,000 Americans expected to die from the virus and 4.8
million hospitalized, according to a presentation hosted by The
American Hospital Association (AHA) in February.
We haven’t seen anything cause this much worldwide fear in a really long
time. But even though there is so much fear, we still don’t know if this
is going to evolve into the next great global pandemic that kills millions of
people or not. I wish that I had a definitive answer for you. At
this point we do know that the number of confirmed cases outside of China
continues to rise at a very alarming rate, and we also know that this virus is about 34 times
more deadly than the flu according to the latest numbers. But in
order for it to kill millions of people, a substantial percentage of the global
population would have to be infected, and we don’t know if that is actually
going to happen.
But in major cities around the globe where there has been an eruption of
COVID-19 cases, we are seeing severe disruptions in normal activity.
For example, now that several coronavirus deaths have been reported in the
area, the lack of tourists has turned downtown Seattle into “a ghost town”…
In Seattle, bracing for the coronavirus also means preparing for what could
be a devastating economic impact. Business owners and residents have already
seen a drop-off in tourists in areas of the city that heavily depend on foot
“It’s like a ghost town,” Francisco said about
the famous Pike Place Market where she has her shop.
If you have ever been to Pike Place Market, then you know that it is
normally bustling with activity.
But now virtually everyone wants to stay away, and you can’t exactly blame
them. With this virus on the loose, I wouldn’t want to venture down there
Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan has already declared a state of emergency, and this
will give her the power to cancel a wide range of public events…
As the death toll climbed Tuesday, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, a Democrat,
proclaimed a civil emergency. The declaration allows her to bypass regulations
to increase city spending, contracting and borrowing to address the growing
public health threat. It will also allow her office to close facilities and
cancel events to prevent the virus from spreading further.
The streets of Seoul, the South Korean capital, stood nearly
empty this week. Those who do venture out wear masks. The
normally busy subways have few passengers and riders make sure to sit far away
from one another. Many residents are relying on grocery and restaurant delivery
Most Americans don’t realize this, but the population of Seoul actually
exceeds the population of New York City.
Normally it is one of the busiest cities on the entire planet, but due to
the fear that more than 5,700 confirmed cases in South Korea has caused, it has
also become something of “a ghost town”.
Speaking of busy cities, Beijing’s 21 million residents continue to wait for
life to return to normal.
Most people are staying home as much as possible, and those that do venture
out risk having their temperatures scanned “at regular checkpoints”…
Many shops are still closed in Beijing, and residents’
temperatures are scanned at regular checkpoints, as well as inside each store.
On streets that are normally so crowded that people are forced to brush
shoulders, those who are out keep a good distance from one another.
Could you imagine the uproar that would ensue if similar “checkpoints” were
set up here in the United States?
In Milan, Italy’s business capital and the center of the country’s outbreak,
restaurants, bars and train stations are much less crowded than normal. The
usually teeming Piazza del Duomo, home to the city’s cathedral and lined with
shops and bars, was almost empty at points Monday.
Italian authorities are absolutely desperate to get this outbreak under
control, and so they are implementing pretty extreme measures.
Incredibly, that even includes banning fans from all sporting events until April 3rd…
The Italian government have taken drastic measures to help
prevent the outbreak of coronavirus by closing all sport events to fans
throughout the entire country until April 3. Italy has been the
worst-hit European country from the coronavirus, with 107 deaths so far.
It is nice that they have set a deadline, but what are they going to do if
we get to April 3rd and this outbreak has gotten even worse?
Could it be possible that Italian fans will not be able to attend sporting
events for the foreseeable future?
And will other western countries soon follow suit?
Our lives could be about to change in ways that we couldn’t even imagine
just a few weeks ago.
Britons could be forced to put their lives on hold for three
months under a ‘battle plan’ to combat Coronavirus amid
warnings today that the deadly disease could incapacitate a fifth of the UK’s
Boris Johnson today set out the Government’s blueprint to deal with a mass
outbreak of the bug that includes a raft of socially and economically costly
contingency moves as a last resort.
Could you put your life on hold for three months?
Of course most major pandemics last longer than just three months. In
fact, the Spanish Flu pandemic lasted for three years and it killed tens of
millions of people.
Hopefully this outbreak will not be anything like that.
But without a doubt, this is a truly horrible virus. The following is
an excerpt from the account of a 25-year-old British man that actually caught
Day 12: I’ve had a relapse. Just as I thought the flu was getting better, it
has come back with a vengeance. My breathing is laboured. Just getting up and
going to the bathroom leaves me panting and exhausted. I’m sweating, burning up,
dizzy and shivering. The television is on but I can’t make sense of it. This is
By the afternoon, I feel like I am suffocating. I have never
been this ill in my life. I can’t take more than sips of air and, when I
breathe out, my lungs sound like a paper bag being crumpled up.
This isn’t right. I need to see a doctor. But if I call the emergency services,
I’ll have to pay for the ambulance call-out myself. That’s going to cost a
fortune. I’m ill, but I don’t think I’m dying — am I?
I certainly do not want to experience that, and I am sure that you do not
want to either.
Coming into this year, I warned about what was
ahead, but I definitely did not anticipate that we could potentially be
facing a full-blown global pandemic by early March.
This is already the most frightening virus outbreak that we have seen in the
past several decades, and it appears that it is just getting started. A
week ago, there were about 3,000 confirmed cases outside of China and now there
are more than 10,000. 4,812 cases have been confirmed in South Korea,
2,036 cases have been confirmed in Italy, and 1,501 cases have been confirmed
in Iran at this point. Of course by the time you actually read this
article those numbers are likely to be significantly higher. It is like
we are watching a really bad Hollywood disaster movie play out right in front
of our eyes, and so far every effort to contain this virus has failed. On
Monday, Dr. Anthony Fauci stunned many people when he told NBC News that
COVID-19 has likely reached “pandemic proportions”…
News of the additional deaths came after Dr Anthony Fauci, the head of the
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told NBC News on Monday
that the disease had likely reached ‘pandemic proportions’ as 100 cases were
confirmed across the U.S.
‘We’re dealing with an evolving situation. We’re dealing with clearly an
emerging infectious disease that has now reached outbreak proportions and
likely pandemic proportions,’ Dr Fauci said. ‘If you look at multiple
definitions of what a pandemic is… multiple sustained transmissions of of a
highly infectious agent in multiple regions of the globe.’
Dr. Fauci is definitely not an alarmist, and for him to use the word
“pandemic” is a major red flag.
Last week a lot of people were pointing out that not a single American had
died from this virus yet, but now six victims have died in the state of
Four more people have died of the coronavirus in Washington state, raising
the death toll in the state and the nation to six, health officials said
Jeffrey Duchin, a health officer in King County and Seattle, said at a news
conference Monday that five of the deaths were people from King County and one
was from Snohomish County, north of Seattle.
If you live in the Seattle area, you need to understand that you are in the
middle of a crisis zone. As I discussed yesterday, it is likely that the virus has
been circulating in that region for weeks, and each day the number of potential
carriers will only get higher.
“To increase your chances of staying healthy, avoid crowded
settings if possible,” King County Public Health said on Twitter. “Especially
if you are over 60, or have other chronic health conditions such as diabetes,
heart disease, lung disease, or a weakened immune system.”
There’s particular concern about the spread of the virus in
nursing homes. One such facility, Life Care Center in Kirkland,
Washington, said in a statement that one of its residents and one of its
associates have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The center is banning visitors
And this doesn’t mean that you will need to change your behavior for a few
days or even a few weeks.
At a minimum, if you live in the Seattle area you are going to want to avoid
crowded settings for the next several months.
Of course it is just a matter of time before other major cities are facing
similar outbreaks. In recent days the number of states with confirmed
cases has grown quite a bit
New York –
Oregon – 3
Island – 2
state – 18 (includes 6 fatalities)
Unfortunately, this list probably only represents the very small tip of a
very large iceberg. Up until just recently, the CDC was mandating that
the only people that should be tested are those that have traveled to China or
those that have had close contact with a known victim. By using such
restrictive criteria, the number of Americans being tested was kept extremely
low, and a lot of infected people slipped through the cracks.
Now this virus has escaped containment, and authorities are telling us that
“community spread” is inevitable all over the United States.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 continues to sweep across much of the rest of the planet
Videos spreading on social media are showing Iranians kissing and licking
Shi’ite shrines throughout the country as many call to close the shrines amid a
severe coronavirus outbreak in the Islamic Republic.
The epicenter of the outbreak in Iran, Qom, is a religious city home to
several shrines. The shrines remain open as some reports place the death toll
in Iran in the hundreds.
Can you believe that?
We live at a time when it seems like much of the world has gone nuts.
Most people believe whatever they feel like believing, and most people do
whatever they feel like doing. But there are always consequences
for our actions, and I have a feeling that this virus is going to spread
particularly rapidly in the Middle East.
Here in the United States, it appears that this outbreak is far more
extensive than we are being told. As the U.S. starts to finally ramp up
testing, it is inevitable that a lot more existing cases will be found.
In fact, in just a little while I will be posting an article on End Of The American Dream about an ER
doctor in New York that is claiming that there is “going to be thousands” of
confirmed cases inside this country by next week.
I don’t think that it is going to happen quite that rapidly, but it appears
to be inevitable that the number of cases is going to be steadily rising.
This is not a drill. This is an exceedingly dangerous virus that is
killing people all over the planet, and we need to prepare for a scenario in
which this crisis could extend for many months or even for several years.
The news outlets today are wondering if we are experiencing the Revelation judgments right now, and of course, the answer to that question is an emphatic “no”. Where are we right now, as of the writing of the this article, on the end times timeline in Revelation? We are smack dab at the end of Revelation 3, at the end of the Laodicean church age. The next event on the timeline will be the Pretribulation Rapture of the Church, as we see John experience in type in Revelation 4:1,2 (KJB). All of the major judgments in Revelation do not begin until the opening of the Seals in Revelation 6. The church will not be here for any of that.
The earth is experience birth pangs, the warm-up act
if you will, for what’s coming. Jesus tells us that these things come before
the Revelation judgments, and that is what we are seeing right now.
Social media is blowing up at the moment, and perhaps rightly so, with
people coming to the realization that our planet Earth is being absolutely
bombarded by multiple plagues, famines, pestilence and earthquakes, along with
really extreme weather. So much so that various articles are coming across the
NTEB end times desk asking if we are witnessing the judgments mentioned in
Revelation. I will say that I cannot recall another year in recent memory that
had so much happening all at the same time as we see now in 2020.
“But when ye shall hear of
wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to
pass; but the end is not by and by. Then said he unto them, Nation
shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes
shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and
great signs shall there be from heaven.”
Tells Us That All These Things Must Happen Before Revelation Judgment
The news outlets today are wondering if we are experiencing the Revelation
judgments right now, and of course, the answer to that question is an emphatic
“no”. Where are we right now, as of the writing of the this article, on the end
times timeline in Revelation? We are smack dab at the end of Revelation 3, at
the end of the Laodicean church age. The next event on the timeline will be the Pretribulation Rapture of the Church, as we see John experience in type in Revelation
4:1,2 (KJB). All of the major judgments
in Revelation do not begin until the opening of the Seals in Revelation 6. The
church will not be here for any of that.
“For we know that the whole
creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not
only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the
Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the
adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.” Romans 8:22,23 (KJB)
So what are we to make of the current spate of earthquakes, plagues,
pestilence and famine? The earth is experience birth pangs, the warm-up act if
you will, for what’s coming. Jesus tells us that these things come before the
Revelation judgments, and that is what we are seeing right now. Take a look at
some of what’s going on if you don’t already know:
As you can see, there is a whole lot of crazy stuff happening, but then, we
told you back in 2019 that this would be a crazy year, remember? But there is a
huge difference between birth pangs and the very specific prophetical judgments
mentioned in Revelation, those things are not, I repeat, are not taking
place right now. If they were happening right now, you would be running
for cover as the world proceeded to fall apart around you, the water would be
blood, green grass burnt up and water becoming wormwood. That is not happening

But just because we are not experiencing the Revelation judgments does not
mean that time is not short for the born again Church, because time is crazy
short right now. In my estimation, the birth pangs began right around the start
of WWI, a war that was so shocking that many said it was the end of the world,
but it only got a lot worse from there. WWII was many times more intense and
deadly, and not only that, you had a perfect type of Antichrist – Adolf Hitler – calling for a thousand year Nazi reign. Not only that,
but Israel became a nation again after 2,000 years. Man, that was news just
leaping off the pages of the Bible with the ink still wet! And yet,
here we are in 2020, over a hundred years later, and still not quite there yet.
COVID-19 Coronavirus has been causing chaos around the world since its
emergence under highly questionable circumstances in China that, as current
evidence notes and continues to build, was related to an accident with a
military-grade weapon. It has caused a pandemic in China and is now spreading
around the world.
American have generally remained calm about it, but the potential for a
pandemic is real and the government is taking it seriously. In response to
this, the US Military has officially started preparing for a pandemic.
U.S. Northern Command is executing plans to prepare for a potential pandemic
of the novel coronavirus, now called COVID19, according to Navy and Marine
Corps service-wide messages issued this week.
An executive order issued by the Joint Staff and approved by Defense
Secretary Mark Esper this month directed Northern Command and geographic
combatant commanders to initiate pandemic plans, which include ordering
commanders to prepare for widespread outbreaks and confining service members with
a history of travel to China.
The Navy and Marine Corps messages, issued Tuesday and Wednesday,
respectively, reference an executive order directing U.S. Northern Command to
implement the Department of Defense Global Campaign plan for Pandemic Influenza
and Infectious Diseases 3551-13.
The document serves as the Pentagon’s blueprint for planning and preparing
for widespread dispersion of influenza and previously unknown diseases.
U.S. Northern Command said Wednesday it was directed the Joint Staff Feb. 1
to commence “prudent planning” in their assigned role synchronizing the
department’s plans for pandemic flu and disease.
But in no way “does the planning indicate a greater likelihood of an event
developing. As military professionals, planning for a range of contingencies is
something we owe the American people,” Navy Lt. Cmdr. Mike Hatfield said.
“We coordinate with other combatant commands to assess potential impacts in
the event of a pandemic and we ensure the U.S. military is poised to respond as
required,” Hatfield said in a statement. “The military profession fosters a
culture of planning, and the fact that we are coordinating planning efforts
across the geographical combatant commands is consistent with how we prepare to
respond, if directed.”
According to the Marine Corps message MARADMIN 082/20, commanders are to
review their disease containment plans and take “preparatory and precautionary
actions” to protect service members, installations and ships.
This includes ensuring that the plans contain procedures for “response,
isolation, quarantine, restriction of movement and community based
intervention” as well as developing measures to contain and treat those
possibly exposed. (source)
Over the last several decades, have we ever seen a year start as strangely
as 2020 has? Global weather patterns have gone completely nuts, large
earthquakes are popping off like firecrackers, it looks like the plague of
locusts in Africa could soon develop into the worst in modern history, and a massive plague of bats
is severely terrorizing parts of Australia. On top of all that, African
Swine Fever is wiping out millions upon millions of pigs around the globe, the
H1N1 Swine Flu is killing people in Taiwan, there have been H5N1 Bird Flu
outbreaks in China and in India, and the H5N8 Bird Flu has made an appearance at a poultry facility in Saudi
Arabia. Of course the coronavirus outbreak which is causing people to
literally drop dead in the streets in China is making more headlines than
anything that I have mentioned so far, and it could potentially turn into a
horrifying global pandemic that kills millions of
But other than that, it has been a rather calm beginning to the year, eh?
I have been repeatedly warning that the time of “the perfect storm” is upon us, and many others have also
been using this terminology to describe what we are now facing.
Basically, we have entered a period of time when we will be dealing with one
terrible crisis after another, and all of these challenges will collectively
create a horrific nightmare that will just continue to intensify as time rolls
The world is facing a series of interlinked emergencies that are threatening
the existence of humans, because the sum of the effects of the crises is much
greater than their individual impacts, according to a new global study.
Climate breakdown and extreme weather, species loss, water scarcity and a
food production crisis are all serious in themselves, but the combination of
all five together is amplifying the risks of each, creating a perfect
storm that threatens to engulf humanity unless swift action is taken.
Of course the mainstream media would like to blame just about every crisis
that humanity is facing on “man-made climate change”.
In essence, they would have us believe that humanity’s “carbon footprint” is
way too large and that if we would just do everything that the socialists are
telling us to do that everything will go back to normal.
To much of the population, their arguments can seem rather compelling at
times, because without a doubt the weather is going nuts.
THE PUBLIC has been advised to stay indoors today as Storm Ciara is expected
to batter Britain with 90mph winds and heavy rain.
The 1,000 mile-wide storm, the strongest to sweep across the country for
seven years, will bring travel chaos and the advice is: only travel if
And “climate change” is also being blamed for the absolutely crazy locust
plague that is devastating parts of the Middle East and eastern Africa right
now. Approximately 360 billion locusts are eating
everything that they can find, and UN officials continue to claim that the
number of locusts could actually get “500 times” larger by the time June arrives…
With more rains expected in the region in the coming weeks, the number of
locusts if unchecked could grow by up to 500 times by June, when drier weather
Meanwhile, the crust of our planet is literally shaking like a leaf.
Are we supposed to blame “climate change” for this too?
Over the past week, the Ring of Fire has been hit by big earthquakes day after day…
EARTHQUAKES today hammered the Ring of Fire in the Pacific, as officials
detected more than 50 tremors throughout the region. One of the biggest was a
magnitude 6.2 earthquake in Indonesia.
Earthquakes have consistently rocked the Ring of Fire this week, with an
average of 50 in the region every day, most in a middling magnitude of two or
more. Some have grazed higher levels, however, with the largest pushing
But right now people are more concerned about the coronavirus outbreak in
China than anything else.
According to the latest official numbers coming out of China, there are now
more than 40,000 confirmed cases and more than 900 confirmed deaths.
Of course there is an enormous amount of skepticism about the validity of
those numbers. In fact, one exiled Chinese billionaire believes that the
true death toll could be more than
50 times higher…
Exiled Chinese businessman Guo Wengui recently revealed leaks from Wuhan
crematoriums. He claims based on the number of bodies their furnaces are
burning, the death toll could be as high as 50,000. Wengui made the bombshell
allegations in an interview with former White House chief strategist Steve
I wish that Chinese officials would just be straight with us, but one thing
that is becoming exceedingly clear is that this virus passes from person to
person very, very easily. In fact, nine members of one family in Hong
Kong all got infected “after sharing a hotpot and barbecue meal”…
Concerns about the way the virus spreads are likely to surge following a
report that nine members of the same Hong Kong family have been
infected with the deadly new coronavirus after sharing a hotpot and barbecue
meal. A hotpot – also known as a steamboat – is a bubbling
cauldron of stock shared communally, to which diners add ingredients.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the food was contaminated with the virus, or
if one of those present for dinner was a carrier.
Let us hope that the containment measures being taken in China and elsewhere
will help, but at this point the number of cases just continues to escalate.
Unfortunately, what we have witnessed so far is just the beginning.
We are only in the leading edge of “the perfect storm”, and the great
challenges that are still ahead of us will shake everyone to the core.
Billions of locusts are eating everything in sight in east Africa right now,
and every single day many more farms are being completely wiped out.
Unfortunately, authorities are telling us that what we have seen so far is just
the tip of the iceberg. In fact, if extreme measures are not implemented
immediately, authorities are claiming that this locust plague could literally
get “500 times” worse in a few months. But it is difficult to imagine
conditions getting any worse than they are at this moment. Ravenous
locust swarms that are “the size of cities” are consuming crops at a staggering
pace, and this could potentially cause famine on the African continent that is
unlike anything we have ever seen before.
It can be difficult to imagine a plague of “billions” of locusts.
After all, there are only about 7 billion people living on the entire planet.
But this is actually happening. Right now “billions of locusts” are absolutely devastating east
Africa, and each one can eat “its own weight in food every day”…
Billions of locusts swarming through East Africa could prove
disastrous for a region still reeling from drought and deadly floods, experts
have warned, amid increasing calls for international help.
Dense clouds of the ravenous insects, each of which
consumes its own weight in food every day, have spread from Ethiopia and Somalia into Kenya, in the region’s worse
infestation in decades.
It would be hard to overstate what this is going to mean for the
region. According to the FAO, this plague is an
“unprecedented threat to food security and livelihoods in the Horn of Africa”…
The United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organisation has described the
situation as “extremely alarming,” representing an “unprecedented threat to
food security and livelihoods in the Horn of Africa.”
We have seen starvation in Africa before. In fact, there was a time
when our airwaves were filled with images of starving African children.
But if this plague continues to get even worse, the stage is being set for a
famine that is far greater than anything that any of us have ever witnessed.
“A typical desert locust swarm can contain up to 150 million locusts per
square kilometer,” the East African regional body, the Intergovernmental
Authority on Development, has said. “Swarms migrate with the wind and can cover
62 to 93 miles in a day. An average swarm can destroy as much food crops in a
day as is sufficient to feed 2,500 people.”
And it is important to note that some of these swarms are many times that
The UN on Wednesday allocated $10 million for aerial spraying, with
humanitarian chief Mark Lowcock saying families across the region “now face the
prospect of watching as their crops are destroyed before their eyes.”
The truly frightening part of this story is that we are being told that the
worst is yet to come.
If you can believe it, and I know that this sounds absolutely nuts, but UN
officials are actually warning that this plague of locusts could get “500 times” larger when warmer weather arrives…
When rains arrive in March and bring new vegetation across much of the
region, the numbers of the fast-breeding locusts could grow 500 times before
drier weather in June curbs their spread, the United Nations says.
If what the UN is telling us is accurate, and I have no reason to believe
that it isn’t, then Africa is facing a nightmare of almost unbelievable proportions.
Yes, I keep warning that “the perfect storm” is here, but the scale of the plague
that Africa is potentially facing is very hard to imagine.
With hundreds of billions of locusts potentially eating crops all across
Africa, what will be left for people to eat?
But now nobody has any idea how there will possibly be enough food for
1.2 billion people live in Africa. That is a lot of mouths to feed,
and right now the locusts are stripping farm after farm completely bare.
I know that I have been writing about the coronavirus outbreak a lot in recent
days, but this crisis could potentially kill far more people. We have
reached a time when global events have really started to accelerate, and the
months ahead promise to be quite challenging for all of us.
It is almost as if someone flipped some sort of a switch as 2020 began,
because we have been seeing really weird things happen all over the globe so
far this year. Later in this article I want to talk about the large
earthquakes and strange weather events that we have seen over the past few
days, but first I want to discuss the massive armies of locusts that are
voraciously eating crops in Asia and in Africa. Right now, a “deadly
invasion by millions and millions of locusts” in India is absolutely
devastating farm after farm, and the media in India is calling this locust
invasion “the worst in over six
Parts of Gujarat and Rajasthan are in the midst of a deadly invasion
by millions and millions of locusts, leaving the farmers there in
distress. The invasion which began in October is said to be the worst
in over six decades.
According to reports, crops of some 3.6 lakh hectares in 10 districts as
western Rajasthan have been damaged by the locusts so far. The Locust Warning
Organization (LWO) said that the current wave of attack was by Pink locusts
which are flying in from Pakistan.
As bad as things are in India, the truth is that they are even worse in
According to the UN, the desert locusts that have been
ravaging fields in Ethiopia and Somalia are now pouring into Kenya…
The UN has warned of a “significant and extremely dangerous”
escalation in the number of desert locusts descending on Kenya, as the
government strives to contain the threat before it reaches the country’s
The tropical grasshoppers have been wreaking havoc on Kenya’s neighbours to
the north and east, devouring tens of thousands of hectares of crops in
Ethiopia and Somalia since last June.
Here in the United States, we tend to think of a “swarm” as a few hundred
But over in Africa, these “swarms” can literally take over an entire section
of a country. For example, the FAO says that one of the locust swarms in
Kenya “measured 2,400 sq km”…
Each square kilometre of locusts in a swarm can eat as much in a day as
35,000 people, according to the FAO. One locust swarm seen in Kenya
measured 2,400 sq km.
“There is an unprecedented threat to food security and livelihoods”
across the Horn of Africa, the FAO said.
I can’t even imagine what a 2,400 square kilometer locust army would look
like, but I think that it is fair to say that it qualifies as a “plague of
Meanwhile, earthquakes continue to pop up in unusual places.
The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck about 2
miles (3 kilometers) southwest of Hutchinson shortly after 1 p.m. The service
had initially reported that it was a magnitude 4.4 earthquake, but later
The earthquake struck as the Kansas Corporation Commission investigates the
cause of a swarm of 17 earthquakes in five days in August the same area of
central Kansas. The regulatory agency’s investigation is focused on the
underground disposal of oilfield waste that’s been blamed for quakes elsewhere
in southern Kansas.
A strong inland earthquake has struck Indonesia’s easternmost Papua
province, but there were no immediate reports of major damage or casualties.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 6.0 quake was centered 141
kilometers west of Abepura, a city at a depth of 33.6 kilometers.
But these days large earthquakes are happening so frequently that they
barely make a blip in the news. A similarly large earthquake just hit China, but hardly anyone in
the U.S. even knows that it happened…
According to reports, A powerful magnitude 6.4 earthquake has struck in
Jiashi County of northwest China’s autonomous Xinjiang. The earthquake was
reported to have a depth of 165m and took place at 9:21 pm local time.
Witnesses say the shaking was felt in the cities of Kashgar and Artux. At
this time there are no reports of fatalities or damage. This is the third
earthquake that has struck in Southern Xinjiang, China in the past 47 hours.
That quake in China was later downgraded to a magnitude 6.0 event, but that
is still very significant.
In some parts of the planet, the shaking simply does not stop. Over in
the Philippines, there have been more than 400 earthquakes associated with the
eruption of Taal volcano since last Sunday…
Since Sunday, a staggering 466 earthquakes have been recorded, and experts
warn more eruptions may still come.
Of those quakes, 156 were recorded as being intensity one to four.
Phivolcs Volcano Monitoring and Eruption Prediction Division chief Mariton
Bornas said: “For volcanic earthquakes, that is strong.”
And as I have written about previously, more than 1,000 earthquakes have shaken
Puerto Rico in recent weeks. Many residents continue to sleep outside
because they are deathly afraid that their homes will collapse on top of them
while they are sleeping if another big quake suddenly strikes.
On top of everything else, global weather patterns continue to go haywire.
The highest temperature recorded on the red planet Wednesday morning was -17
C, according to NASA, which was still a few degrees above Alberta, where the
warmest temperature recorded was –21.2 C, at Nakiska Ridge in Kananaskis
In Calgary, it reached a low of –31.2 C early Wednesday, according to
Environment Canada, while in Edmonton the mercury dipped to –34 C.
And along with Mars, Alberta was colder than a number of other well-known
spots, like Siberia, which sat at –11 C Wednesday morning, and Nuuk, Greenland,
where it was –12 C.
Premier Dwight Ball said he had asked for the federal government’s
assistance, including mobilizing the armed forces, after the blizzard battered
Rob Carroll, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said St. John’s had
experienced a one-day snowfall of 76.2 centimeters (30 inches), breaking the
previous record of 68.4 centimeters (27 inches) on April 5, 1999.
On an almost daily basis, we are seeing natural disasters happen that are
unlike anything we have ever seen before, and what we have witnessed so far is just the beginning.
Despite all of our advanced technology, we remain exceedingly dependent on
the natural environment that surrounds us, and that natural environment is
becoming increasingly unstable.
We are truly entering uncharted territory, and most people cannot even
imagine the great challenges that lie ahead for all of us.
