Signs in the Heavens: Comet & The High Holy Days

In the summer of 1998, Americans raced into movie theaters for not one, but two major Hollywood productions featuring giant asteroids about to smash into Earth.

The films – “Deep Impact” and “Armageddon” – had plots so similar, many people confuse the two.

Now 13 years later, a newly discovered, real-life comet named Elenin is racing toward our home planet.

No, it’s not an asteroid, and no, it’s not on a crash course, but it is expected to be at its closest point to us – some 21 million miles – during the culmination of God’s annual holy days mentioned in the Bible.

This has sparked a wave of speculation that it could be some sort of miraculous sign possibly heralding the long-anticipated return of Jesus to Earth.

It’s coming!” thunders Paul Begley, a preacher at Community Gospel Baptist Church in Knox, Ind., in a YouTube video. “It’s on its way and right in the middle of the Feast of the Trumpets, it is going to come through and get in between the Earth and the sun.”

“We’ve only known about this thing six months, folks,” he continued, reflecting the fact the comet was discovered here in the U.S. by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin on Dec. 10, 2010, at International Scientific Optical Network’s robotic observatory near Mayhill, N.M.

Begley wondered aloud what sort of physical effect the comet might have.

“Will there be some type of magnetic pull? Will the poles shift? Will there be some type of pull of gravity that creates earthquakes and tsunamis and volcanoes and hurricanes and tornadoes and cyclones and mudslides, forest fires? What’s gonna go on?”

He notes the comet’s nearest point to Earth will take place Oct. 16, during the Feast of Tabernacles, according to today’s Jewish calendar.

“I’m here to tell you right now, we’re getting closer and closer and closer and closer to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ,” Begley said.

In the New Testament, Jesus predicted celestial signs concerning the end of this current age and His return to Earth to govern the kingdom of God.

  • “And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.” (Mark 13:25-26)
  • “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.” (Luke 21:11)

A Space.com article noted, “Internet rumors about Elenin began spreading earlier this year. Its approach to Earth was blamed for shifting the Earth’s axis by 3 degrees in February, precipitating the Chile earthquake, then shifting the pole even more to trigger the Japan quake in March.”

David Morrison, a planetary astronomer at NASA’s Ames Research Center and senior scientist at the NASA Astrobiology Institute, wrote, “Ignoring plate tectonics as the cause of earthquakes, they suggest that the comet exerted strong gravitational or electromagnetic effects on our planet.”

When it was pointed out how small the comet actually is – just 2 to 3 miles wide – with no magnetic field and that it won’t even pass very near Earth, rumors began to circulate about NASA withholding information about Elenin.

“Ironically, the inconspicuous nature of this comet plays into some of the conspiracy theories,” Morrison told Space. “For people who are convinced the comet did cause the earthquakes, this proves that Elenin is not a comet at all, but a much more massive, and dangerous, interloper.”

Astronomer Colin Johnston at the Armagh Planetarium in Northern Ireland is among those trying to put disaster fears and 2012 hysteria to rest.

“As Elenin will not hit Earth,” he said, “some have claimed instead that its gravitational effect on the Earth’s interior will cause earthquakes and similar cataclysms on our planet, offering the recent disasters in New Zealand and Japan as harbingers of the horrors to come. This is nonsense. I estimate the comet’s nucleus to have a mass of about 20 billion tons, which is vast in human terms, minute in astronomical terms. Compared to the gravitational effects of the moon and other planets, Elenin’s effects will be immeasurably small. In fact, Dear Reader, your gravitational influence on the Earth as you sit reading these words is greater than Comet Elenin’s will be at its strongest!”

Others agree.

Astronomer and blogger Ian Musgrave in Adelaide, Australia, has posted a frequently-asked-questions page online about this celestial glob of ice and rock that has less than a billionth of the tidal force of the moon.

“If the moon can’t cause the poles to tip, cause massive tidal floods or earthquakes, Comet 2010 X1 Elenin won’t. We’ve been closer to other comets before with no ill effect,” Musgrave said.

“The comet will pass no closer to us than 84 times the Earth-moon distance,” said Ray Villard at Discovery News.

“The effects of the comet on Earth at closest approach will be as inconsequential as that of a mosquito slamming head-on into an ocean-going supertanker.”

This is certainly not the first time some in the Christian community have made connections between the biblical feast days and events in outer space.

As WND previously reported, a minister who promotes the Old Testament roots of Christianity suggests a rare string of lunar and solar eclipses said to fall on God’s annual holy days in 2015 could signal the return of Jesus.

Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake, Wash., noted a coming rare phenomenon of four consecutive total lunar eclipses, known as a tetrad, and often called “blood moons” since the moon often takes on a bloody color.

He says during this century, tetrads occur at least six times, but what’s interesting is that the only string of four consecutive blood moons that coincide with God’s holy days of Passover in the spring and the autumn’s Feast of Tabernacles (also called Succoth) occurs between 2014 and 2015 on today’s Gregorian calendar.

“The fact that it doesn’t happen again in this century I think is very significant,” Biltz explained. “So then I looked at last century, and, believe it or not, the last time that four blood red moons occurred together was in 1967 and 1968 tied to Jerusalem recaptured by Israel.”

He then started to notice a pattern of the tetrads.

“What’s significant to me is that even before 1967, the next time that you had four blood red moons again was right after Israel became a nation in ’48, it happened again in 1949 and 1950 … on Passover and Succoth. You didn’t have any astronomical tetrads in the 1800s, the 1700s, the 1600s. In the 1500s, there were six, but none of those fell on Passover and Succoth.”

When checking the schedule for solar eclipses, Biltz found two – one on the first day of the Hebrew year and the next on the high holy day of Rosh Hashanah, the first day of the seventh Hebrew month. Both of these take place in the 2014-2015 year.

Biltz says, “You have the religious year beginning with the total solar eclipse, two weeks later a total lunar eclipse on Passover, and then the civil year beginning with the solar eclipse followed two weeks later by another total blood red moon on the Feast of Succoth all in 2015.”

In February of last year, the astronomical community was dazzled with a spectacular unknown object that some felt could be a sign from God, as it they said it resembled a flying cross or a Star of David.

“The truth is, we’re still struggling to understand what this means,” comet expert David Jewitt at UCLA told Britain’s Daily Mail. “It’s most likely the result of a recent collision between two asteroids.”

Jesus said that prior to His return we would see signs in the sun, the moon and the stars. We need to always be looking up becuase the heavens were given to us as a sign way back in Genesis until Satan perverted that also with Astrology and the like.

Ottoman Revivial

Erdogan’s recent electoral victory speech puts his true intentions regarding Turkey’s foreign policy goals in perspective. He said that this victory is as important in Ankara as it is in the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sarajevo, under Ottoman times, an important Ottoman city; that his party’s victory was as important in a large Turkish city, Izmir, on the Western Anatolian coast, as it is in Damascus, and as important in Istanbul as it is in Jerusalem.

What does all this mean? At the very least, this victory speech signals a wish for Ottoman cultural colonialism and imperialism. The places Erdogan names were all part of by the Ottoman Empire; the territory of the modern Turkish Republic is what remained after World War I and Turkey’s War of Independence from the occupying Allied forces. Turkey forms only the central part, and relatively small fraction, of what had been the Ottoman Empire, which at its height extended deep into southern Europe, and included most of today’s Arab world and even beyond.

In saying that this victory is as important in all of these former Ottoman cities, Erdogan apparently sees himself as trying to reclaim Turkey’s full Ottoman past. In religious terms, the entire reason for being of the Ottoman Empire was to spread the Sunni form of Islam prevalent there. Sunnis, who make up about 85% of the Muslim world, believe that when Mohammed died, the leadership of Islam was passed down through what amounted to the Meccan artistocracy, and not through Mohammed’s family — which is what the Shi’ites believe. The cities Erdogan mentioned are almost all Sunni, with a few non-Sunni ones thrown in.

The Ottomans had two major rivals: the non-Muslim Europeans to the northwest, and the Shi’ite Persian Empire to the east.

The scars of this early 1500s battle between the Sunni Ottomans and the Persian Shiites has influenced the Turkish Sunni psyche so deeply that today’s Turkish Sunnis — and most importantly among them, Turkey’s Prime Minister Erdogan — still recite age-old pejorative Turkish proverbs about both the Shiites and the Alevis. These proverbs include references to the Alevis and Shiites as untrustworthy brigands who also engage in indecent acts.

At the moment Erdogan is threatened by other problems that Iran is bringing to his doorstep. These include Iran’s attempt to make itself the major energy transport country in the area, bypassing Turkey. Turkey’s major geographic significance now is that it is a transporter of energy, bringing gas and oil from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and oil from northern Iraq to the world market. If Iran takes Turkey’s place in the energy market, especially in transporting energy to India, China, and the region, Turkey will suffer an immense economic and strategic loss.

Further, Erdogan must be terrified of what he sees happening in Syria. Assad and his ruling clique are not Sunnis. They are Alawis — not exactly the same as Turkey’s Alevis, but similar in that they also revere Ali. But unlike the Shiites, the Alawis view Ali as a deity, much as the Christians revere Jesus. As a result of the continuing upheaval in Syria, the ruling party of Turkey might see itself as surrounded by various active religious threats from the east and from Syria, along Turkey’s southern border.

Erdogan’s and Assad’s families even vacationed together, and Erdogan publicly called Assad his close friend — an alliance all the more curious as the Syrian Sunnis view the Alawis with utter disdain, stemming from the Alawi worship of Ali as a deity, rather than as just the Twelfth Imam.

When the Syrian Sunnis started abandoning their ruler, Bashar Assad a few weeks ago, Erdogan took his cue from them and allowed Syrian Sunnis to host several Syrian opposition conferences in Turkey — including one conference paid for by a wealthy Syrian Sunni businessman who until recently had been a supporter of Assad; and another conference, in Istanbul, of the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood. Although both conferences had slightly different approaches to solving Syria’s political problems, what united them was that at both, Syria’s Sunnis — Erdogan’s natural allies — were the dominant actors.

Erdogan may well now feel himself under threat from both Syria and Iran, until recently two of his allies. The policy of of “Zero problems with all neighbors” of Erdogan’s Foreign Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, has proven to be an abject failure.

Erdogan undoubtedly sees that he now has an opportunity to advance his Ottoman-centric Sunni policy in Syria and beyond. If Assad’s Alawi regime falls, and is replaced by a Sunni-dominated one, Syria — approximately 70% Sunni — would be a natural ally for Turkey. Syria’s Sunni business- and upper classes have had centuries-old connections with their counterparts in Istanbul and elsewhere in Turkey.

In all, Erdogan’s bottom line appears to be advancing a reconstitution of the Ottoman Empire, which he and his fellow Turkish Sunni fundamentalists now call ” The Ottoman Region.” In the long run, all non-Sunnis — such as Iran, Israel, Syria (if it remains under Alawi rule after things eventually quiet down in Syria), and a Shiite-ruled Iraq — remain outsiders. Erdogan might make temporary alliances with any of them, but, psychologically, that will be all he is prepared to do.

As for Erdogan and Davutoglu, in the depths of their souls, they are fundamentalist Sunni Muslims and see themselves as such. The Turkish-Iranian-Iraqi-Syrian alliance, which Erdogan worked so hard to build, has failed. Erdogan’s and Davutoglu’s long-term, Sunni goals, and those of the non-Sunnis in the area, have been, and will always be, vastly different. Turkey might conclude temporary alliances with non-Sunnis as needed, to address immediate concerns, but we cannot expect much more than this. Given Iran’s regional bid to replace Turkey as “energy-central,” and the apparent attempt of the Shi’ite Iranian-Syrian-Alawi alliance to try to put down the Sunni-dominated Syrian insurrection, Turkey needs to make sure it does not have additional problems.

It is in this context that we should understand Turkey’s renewed interest in the U.S. and Israel. As such, both the U.S. and Israel should be extremely wary of Erdogan and his associates. Erdogan’s Turkey does not see long-term interests with either. Given economic developments in Iran, Alawite oppression in Syria, and Shiite-dominance in Iraq, Erdogan understands that he must take a temporary hiatus from his goal of reasserting what appears to be his real goal — the Turkish Sunni domination of the entire Middle East.

Scoffers in the Pews: The end is Really Near!

In our day, so much of Bible prophecy seems to be on the cusp of its ultimate fulfillment that we tend to get a bit complacent about it.  Of course, Noah’s Ark hasn’t been discovered, or, if so, it has never been confirmed.

But that got me to looking at all the stuff that has; like the actual burial boxes of New Testament figures, archeological finds like the official seal of Queen Jezebel of First and Second Kings, etc.

When compared to other religious books, the Bible is unique in every possible category.

It is the oldest continuous historical record, is testified to by the people, places and titles it references, confirmed by archeology and by the languages and literary formats used in its composition.

Whenever archeology has conflicted with the Bible, when the conflict was ultimately resolved, the problem was always with archeology, not the Bible.

Let me put it another way.

In all of the archeological finds made in the Bible lands so far, not one single find has conclusively disproved any single Bible reference.  Not one.

Wherever there is a question, it is because of a lack of confirmatory evidence, not the discovery of conflicting evidence.

Skeptics say that King David was a myth – basing their position on the fact that there was no firm archeological evidence confirming his existence.

For the record, there was never any archeological evidence disputing it, either.

But the standard demanded by skeptics when it comes to the Bible is absolute, undeniable, unquestionable evidence that goes beyond a reasonable doubt.

To paraphrase the delightfully articulate Donald Rumsfeld, to them, the absence of evidence is bedrock evidence of absence.

But their entire thesis depended on nobody ever conclusively proving King David.  It collapsed on July 21, 1993.

A team of archaeologists led by Prof. Avraham Biran were excavating Tel Dan in the northern Galilee when they found a triangular piece of basalt rock inscribed in Aramaic.

It was subsequently identified as part of a victory pillar erected by the king of Syria and later smashed by an Israelite ruler. The inscription, which dates to the ninth century BC, (about a century after David was thought to have ruled Israel) includes the words Beit David (“House” or “Dynasty” of David”).

It was the first near-contemporaneous reference to David ever found. Surely, this would silence the skeptics!  It didn’t.  It won’t.  Nothing will.  It didn’t even really excite believers.

In our day, so much of Bible prophecy seems to be on the cusp of its ultimate fulfillment that there is a sense of complacency about it.

Familiarity breeds contempt, they say.

Even among serious Christians with a love for His appearing, there is sometimes a sense of ‘so what’ that replaced our earlier ‘gee whiz’ attitude to the signs of our times.

“Knowing this first, that there shall come IN THE LAST DAYS scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2nd Peter 3:4-5)

The Apostle says they know better, but they prefer their own narrative, despite its flaws:

“For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, BY THE SAME WORD are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” (3:5-7)

The fact is, He IS coming back, and He IS coming back soon. This isn’t a case of wishful thinking, or a hopeful interpretation of the signs of the times.

We are living in the final hours of human history, and we have been given an awesome responsibility.

As you go through your day today, try to take note of the people you see. Try and note them all – those you pass on the street, workers reading meters, delivering mail, serving lunch, bagging groceries . .   all the invisible people that are part of our typical day.

There are a lot of them, aren’t there?

Every single one of them has an eternal destiny.  They will either spend eternity in unspeakable joy in the presence of the Lord or in an equally unspeakable eternal horror in the Lake of Fire.

For all you know, you might be the only hope they have of learning the truth.  Think about that as you go through your day. Because with every passing day, the evidence that these are the last days continues to pile up.

After awhile, it almost seems to blend in with the normal world, kind of like the times of the First Advent, when the Sanhedrin were unmoved by Jesus’ miracles.

We are walking amidst miracles and signs and wonders unlike anything seen in two thousand years.

And we yawn!

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”(Matthew 24:4)

Get excited!  The Lord is coming!

Gay Marriage: The Divisive Issue of our Times

With the recent passing of the same sex civil marriage equality act in New York state we are about to see the country and even Christianity divide over this issue. This is the issue of our times. This is the issue that will define whether America is the Lord’s or has gone the way of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Read this story to see if you would have the courage that this fellow sister in Christ had:

As gay New Yorkers gear up for the Marriage Equality Act to become law on Sunday July 24–when state’s clerk offices will remain open so couples don’t have to wait “one day longer than they have to”– at least one New York state clerk has resigned her position rather than sign her name to a same-sex marriage license, Reuters reports.

Laura Fotusky submitted a letter of resignation to the town board in Barker, a small town north of Binghamton, on Monday, saying her religious beliefs prevented her from marrying gay couples. New Yorkers For Constitutional Freedoms obtained a copy of the letter:

“To the Town of Barker Board, Supervisor Dilworth, Attorney Lewis and the Town Residents,”

“I have been in contact with Jason McGuire from New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, our Town Attorney, Richard Lewis, and a Constitutional Lawyer regarding the Marriage Equality Act that was passed June 24, 2011. There was no protection provided in the legislation for Town Clerks who are unable to sign these marriage licenses due to personal religious convictions, even though our US Constitution supports freedom of religion.”

“I believe that there is a higher law than the law of the land. It is the law of God in the Bible. In Acts 5:29, it states, ‘We ought to obey God rather than men.’”

“The Bible clearly teaches that God created marriage between male and female as a divine gift that preserves families and cultures. Since I love and follow Him, I cannot put my signature on something that is against God. Deuteronomy 10:12 says, ‘…What does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.’”

“I would be compromising my moral conscience if I participated in the licensing procedure. Therefore, I will be resigning as of July 21. I wanted you to know my position as I understand the marriage law goes into effect on July 24.”

“It has been a pleasure and privilege to serve the Town as Barker Town Clerk.”

State senators put language in the Marriage Equality Act that protected religious organizations from prosecution if they refused to marry same-sex couples. Some, however, think these protections need to be extended to non-religious people, such as photographers, wedding planners and others who refuse to be involved with a gay marriage.

Rev. Jason J. McGuire, Executive Director at New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, said, “It is unfortunate that when state senators were busy protecting liberal special interests and padding their campaign accounts, that they failed to protect good people of faith.”

Governor Cuomo responded to the news Tuesday saying simply, “The law is the law, when you enforce the laws of the state, you don’t get to pick and choose,” The New York Daily News reports. He added, “You don’t get to say, ‘I like this law and I’ll enforce this law, or I don’t like this law and I won’t enforce this law’ — you can’t do that. So if you can’t enforce the law, then you shouldn’t be in that position.”

Fotusky will step down from her position on July 21.

The Timing of the Rapture

I am just returning from a two week vacation in the Cape Cod/Boston area. Well needed rest. I just had alot of time to think about how much and frankly how many Christians want to bury their heads in the sand around the topic of the Rapture of the church and the Lord’s return.

I usually receive the “we will not know the day or hour” line or Jesus told us “no man knows the day or hour” line. This line is very true. I am not sure thatthese same people actually understand what the Lord was saying here. When you review the Greek the Lord was telling us that literally we will not know the exact day of the week or the hour that the Lord will return. We will know the times and seasons when this great event is upon us. He tells us that. He also tells us to stay alert, to be ready, and commands us to know the general time frame or period when these things could go down.

Christians are the scoffers from 1 Peter where he tells us there will be scoffers in the last days concerning the Lord’s return . Just food for thought.

I am attaching a wonderful article by Bill Salus on this topic that I went over last night. Great study document to go deeper with. Keep looking up!

The Coming Islamic Caliphate

Here is a great article by Joel Richardson centered on the coming Islamic Caliphate and that it will be led by Turkey. It is also interesting to note that just last week that Washington is offering Ankara or Turkey to host the upcoming peace discussions between Israel and the Palestinians in exchange for stopping the flotilla at the end of this month. Again like I always say Watch Turkey!

The coming Turkish-led caliphate

Several years ago, I began publicly stating that the world will witness the rise of a Neo-Ottoman Caliphate. With the Islamist party in Turkey poised to win yet another sweeping election victory next week, now is another appropriate moment to revisit the subject.

The first thing that the West must understand concerning the concept of the caliphate is that it is somewhat of a blank canvas for Muslims. To the Muslim socialist, it is through the concept of the caliphate that a socialist utopia will become a reality. For the moderate Muslim, it is in the idea of the caliphate that a tolerant Muslim empire will arise. For the radical Muslim, the caliphate is the means by which Islam will arise to supremacy in the earth. The point is that the dream of reviving a caliphate is a wide-ranging vision and is certainly not restricted to the radicals.

Second, the West must come to terms with the tectonic shift that has only recently taken place in the Middle East, beginning in 2003 in Turkey.

But first, let’s define the old order of the region. This old order saw the Middle East divided up primarily between the Arab block and the Iranian block.

Imagine a random Arab Sunni Muslim (Sunnis comprise 85-90 percent of Muslims) who has long desired to see the unification of the Islamic world under a caliphate. In yearning for someone to rise up and lead the Islamic world, this Sunni Muslim first turns his eyes toward the leaders of the Arab block (Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt). On one hand, he identifies with the fact that they are both Sunni and Arab. But they are also either corrupt monarchies or dictatorial autocrats and hopelessly compromised through their relationship with Israel and/or the United States. To the average Muslim, these nations are led by MINOs (Muslims in name only). Frustrated, this Muslim shifts his attention to Iran. On one hand, the Iranians are seen as courageous, bold and assertive. They thumb their noses at Israel, the United States and any who would defy them. This is admired, but there is still the gaping sectarian divide. In other words, being Shia, they are essentially heretical. Without hope, this Sunni Muslim lets out a long sigh and prays that Allah will soon raise up a genuine Muslim leader capable of reviving Islam’s former glory.

This was the old order of the Middle East for the past 30 years.

But suddenly, this has all begun to change. Through the rise of the Turkish AK party over the past several years, the Middle East has experienced a political shift of tectonic proportions.

Let’s briefly summarize what Prime Minister Erdogan’s Islamist party has achieved in just the past few years. First, they were able to gain control of both the presidency and the seat of prime minister. They also gained a large majority in the parliament. After they win the elections on June 12, they are set to pass a bill authorizing them to literally rewrite the Turkish Constitution. This will give them far greater control over both the judiciary and the military, the two entities that have historically served as the greatest check against an Islamist takeover of government. Not surprisingly then, through two manufactured conspiracies, the ruling AK party has effectively decapitated the secularist leadership of the Turkish military, arresting nearly 200 top military officials. Instead of a military coup to remove the Islamist party, the Islamist AK party has successfully taken over the military. And they were masterfully successful.

Erdogan has also filled the courts with his own judges. Over 70 percent of the police are also Islamists. And finally, the Islamists have gone after the media. Erdogan’s son now runs one outlet, while a second company was hit with a $2.3 billion fine. There are more Turkish journalists in prison than any other nation in the world.

We are now nearing the conclusion of a perfectly executed plan to purge Turkey of its secular Kemalist system and ensconce the Islamists in power indefinitely. In the name of democracy, the Islamists have toppled what was once a shining beacon of hope for the Middle East. And behind it all is the architect, Prime Minister Erdogan, who once projected, “Democracy is like a streetcar. You use it to get you where you wish to go, and then you get off.”

Today, Turkey has a thriving economy as well as the largest army in the region. And of course, only Turkey has a proven track record of ruling the Middle East. Now place yourself back in the shoes of the Sunni Muslim. None of these facts are missed by those who have been looking for a viable Islamist strong horse to get behind. And it is precisely for this reason that Erdogan is now the single most popular leader in the region. The starry-eyed Islamists of the Muslim world have solidly fixed their hopes on Turkey.

Finally, it is absolutely essential to understand Turkish Islamist methodology. Since 9/11, Ankara has been all too willing to portray themselves as the most natural counterbalance and answer to al-Qaida and radical Islamism globally. For the past decade, the Turks have pursued the methodology of the world’s most powerful Islamist group, the Fethullah Gulen Movement, of which Prime Minister Erdogan and President Gul are both students. The goal of the Gulen movement is quite simple really. They want to be endorsed. Through the use of outreach, they have successfully branded themselves as paragons of religious tolerance. While radical groups such as al-Qaida have utilized terror to achieve their goal of a caliphate, Turkish Islam has championed the approach of presenting itself in a form specifically custom-tailored to win the hearty approval of the West. But their ultimate goal is the same: the unification of the Islamic world, the revival of the caliphate. And to date, we have fully fallen for their ploy.

The Turkish goal of regional influence has progressed steadily and deliberately. Seven years ago, only myself and a few others were warning of these realities. And when we suggested such, we were mocked. Seven years from now, we’ll all be looking back, asking ourselves how we could have been so blind not to have seen it sooner.

As the Days of Noah

Here is another piece of the puzzle cocerning the Lord’s return. In Matthew 24:30-40 Jesus describes the earth as being like in the days of Noah when He returns. From the account in Genesis 6 we know that giants walked the earth. Fallen angels had come and married women and giants were produced. The mighty men of reknown.

Doctrine: It is Important, It May save your Soul

Here is another story of why the real church of Jesus Christ needs to stand up and be counted and heard. Especially when doctrinal truths are being watered down in the church. We have this story out of Toledo, Ohio where a Methodist church is openly promoting a gay agenda and saying that God loves everyone and that He would not have made people born this way if gay marriage or relationships were not okay.

They have even gotten very bold and have started a marketing campaign in Toledo to promote that “Being Gay is a Gift from God”. This is heresy and blasphemy and there is no other way to say it. It is time for the true church of Jesus to not sit back and continue to go about their business as if everything in the world is okay. It is not, we are moving quickly towards the Lord’s return and He is not coming back for a group in His church that is doing what this church is doing.

It is time to wake up people! I am attaching the story so you can read it for yourself. Keep looking up!

Being gay is a gift from God, asserts one church in Ohio

Central United Methodist Church launched a campaign this week, advertising “Being Gay Is a Gift From God.”

That’s the message that Central United Methodist Church is spreading throughout their community via a digital billboard, launched on Monday.

This “simple statement,” the church announced, is “intended to be a gift to those who have experienced hurt and discrimination because of their real or perceived sexual orientation.”

“The Church seeks nothing less than the healing of the world, and Central UMC wants to offer words and acts of healing to those hurt and marginalized,” the website states.

Jeff Buchanan, the director of Exodus Church Equipping & Student Ministries, agrees that the Church must display love and compassion for those in the LGBT community. But he opposes the message that CUMC is sending through their “Being Gay is a Gift from God” campaign.

“Why would God bestow this ‘gift’ only to condemn it throughout the Bible? This would seemingly contradict His character as a God who is loving and just.”

The Toledo church’s controversial billboard ad is directly connected to a long month-long sermon series by its new pastor, Bill Barnard. The church is hoping that the ad will move the public towards tolerance, reported ABC 13, and not perpetuate anti-gay attitudes and behaviors, which were harming the LGBT community.

The purposes of their recently launched campaign are threefold: to offer welcome to all persons who are gay; to challenge the larger Church to fully accept persons who are gay into the life of the Church; and to call on all people to bring all the gifts of who they are to God.

“By welcoming and living in community with faithful Christians who happen to be gay, we have come to understand that being gay is part of who God made them to be,” CUMC proclaims on their site. “And by gay Christians bringing all that they are to God, the body of Christ has been strengthened.”

“In fact, we would experience the body of Christ as incomplete without LGBT persons.”

Barnard told ABC, “We really believe that being gay is a gift from God, and it’s not anything that anyone has to apologize for or be ashamed about. So that’s how [the campaign] came to be.”

Believing sexuality to be a “good gift from God” – or as they declared yet another way in God’s infinite diversity – CUMC defines sin as denying who God created them to be.

“The overwhelming scientific evidence is that people are born with their sexual orientation, that it is not a choice,” the church contends. “Fully accepting one’s sexual orientation and identity is key to leading a normal and healthy life.

“Forcing people to act against their God-given sexual orientation will lead to disordered lives. Allowing people to act in accordance with their God-given sexual orientation leads to reconciliation.”

While deeming the marginalization of LGBT persons as “unjustified” – mentioning that Jesus did not speak directly regarding homosexuality – the Toledo church recognizes that the Church today continues to be divided over interpretation of Scripture related to homosexuality.

Just two months ago, 33 retired United Methodist bishops urged the denomination to remove its ban on homosexual clergy, prolonging the undying debate within the church body.

CUMC hopes to unify believers by focusing more on “things that [they] agree on, such as kindness, justice, and humility,” instead of contributing to hate and discrimination, which they believe leads not to reconciliation, but to self-destructive practices within the LGBT community.

“Holding people responsible for matters in which they have no control is irrational and immoral,” the church declares. “We believe that both those within and without the Church are hungry for dialogue about homosexuality that reflects compassion and humility rather than intolerance and strife.”

Buchanan contends that CUMC’s message “tells people that the only option they have is a gay identity.”

But “people need to understand that thousands of men and women have found there is another way and have found freedom from homosexuality through the power of Christ,” he says.

Even if there was conclusive evidence supporting the theory that people were “born this way,” Buchanan stresses that Christians were called to be “born again.”

“While we may not choose our desires, we do have the ability and responsibility to choose whether or not we act on those desires. Our goal should be living a life that is congruent with Scripture,” he says.

“Genesis describes the fall of man and the permanent effects that sin has on us spiritually, mentally, and physically. Just because something may be inherent does not mean it was intended.”

Despite the outcry of many from the Christian community against CUMC’s campaign, Barnard continues to proclaim that homosexuality is a “gift” and has people come and remain just “as they are.”

Working to accept persons who are gay into the full life of the Church, CUMC is a founding member of the Reconciling Ministries Network, which is the United Methodist movement for gay equality in the denomination.

Two of the volunteer staff members at their church, including the music director and lead team chair, live with their partners and have served the church for over seven years.

Grieved over the misinterpretation of Scripture and false teaching that is being promoted by CUMC and many other churches like them, Buchanan encourages churches to deliver the message of Christ with love and grace, but also with accuracy and uncompromised truth.

“We must always remember that authentic love is built upon a foundation of grace and truth.”

Increase in Demonic Activity

The Catholic church is reporting an increase in exorcisms being conducted world wide according to a recent report. The release of a new handbook on how to conduct exorcisms by using certain prayers has led to a renewed effort on the church’s part to prepare their priests for the increased activity.

While I am not a member of the Catholic church, Protestant groups around the world are also seeing the same increase in demonic activity and we need to be prepared to encounter this in our lives.

Demons are manifesting more due to an increase in occult and satanic activity and also New Age teachings that are becoming more popular in the general community. We may also just be hearing more about this demonic activity as more clergy are talking openly about it and not keeping it in a cloud of secrecy.

We also need to be more aware of the subtle attacks of the enemy in the church and that is false teachers misleading our congregations through teaching that tickles the ears. The hearts of those in the church and those of people in general will wax cold to the true message of the gospel as the last days approach. We will see an increase in preachers who openly will tickle their congregations astray. Scripture confirms this as the case.

I also believe we will see an increase in the true church in a strengthening of faith and an increased focus on personal holiness. We need to understand that the good fish and thew bad fish from Matthew 13 are in the same net until the separation at the end of the age, that the wheat and tares are in the same field until the harvest at the end, and that the 10 virgins are all together until the bridegroom comes suddenly and the 5 who are ready leave with him and go to the marriage supper with him.

We are almost there and the demonic activity will also increase accordingly.

Keep looking up!
